BMW have just released the MAP update manager for MAC on the connected drive website...

Previously just available on Windows machines

Sorry, silly Q but I just logged onto the connected drive website and have no messages or notices. My car is a 2015 (with services till 2018) and I've never had a notice to upgrade the map either (for all i'm aware it might have 2015 maps on it).
Does the navpro system require USB updates? If so can anyone provide me with an idiots guide on how to do it?

They were dicking about with the maps on the morning that we collected the car. Drove away from the showroom with 2016-1 installed.

I applied the 2017-1 update via USB as soon as it was available but was never asked for the code that the download manager claimed it would need.

I'm guessing that the car didn't phone home to BMW to tell them it now had 2017-1 installed and so the BMW Connected Drive server thinks it still has 2016-1. Not sure why it can't jump directly to 2017-2 though.

Just been on the phone to the Connected Apps "experts" at BMW UK. I'm left with the overwhelming opinion that they are fuckwits.

I knew I was onto a loser when I had to explain the difference between RTTI Traffic Updates and USB Map Updates.

When I applied the 2017-1 update at the beginning of this year I was never asked for an FSC code. Anyone else had this experience?

I've downloaded the file successfully and have tried to save it to the same USB stick that I've used twice before under Windows. Now it's telling me that 'the selected folder is not suitable for unpacking the map material. Please select another folder to unpack the map material. (UNZIP0077)'. Apparently the file system is not compatible.

Anyone else had this? The file system is MS-DOS FAT32.

Have you tried reformatting the USB stick on your Mac using Disk Utility?

Yes I have. And the drive has enough space on it. Might have guessed it wouldn't work!

I'm using a 32GB micro SD card with a USB adapter, pretty sure it's the same one I used for the previous update as I don't have a 32GB USB stick.

Can you find the Zip file and unzip it yourself? The windows download manager leaves the zip file in a bmw-dlm folder in My Documents.

Can anyone confirm the full name/description of the 2017-2 version that the download manager is offering them?

I am being offered "Road Map Europe Route 2017-1" and I am wondering if this is indeed the latest version of "Route" for Business Nav (HU_ENTRY).

Perhaps 2017-2 is only available for Pro Nav and some of the older HUs at the moment (Premium, Next, Move, EVO) ?

I believe that some map updates for some systems are now delivered "over the air" (OTA). Seems sensible for Pro Nav systems that have a 4G connection.

If you log into your Connected Drive account do you see a "Map Update" tile? On my account this leads me to the USB manual update page, which is primarily there to offer a link to download the map update download manager. Download and install the download manager and when you start it up you will need to provide your Connected Drive login details again.

And for a 2015, non LCI you will need to pay for it. 2yrs maps was ~£60 I think, I did it at a few months back, download straight from connected drive website.

So... I tried to install the 2017-2 maps in my car. Plugged in the USB stick and nothing happened. Checked the installed maps version, and it was 2017-2. D'oh!
