Alignment

Anyone recommend a place to get a four wheel alignment done in London/Southeast?

Happy New Year!

Thanks Teaston.

Have seen this from previous posts.
I assume the equipment is only as good as the operator, so wondered if someone has a recommendation.

If you are ever near Basingstoke or Winchester I can recommend Micheldever Tyres. They use Hunter equipment.

Pretty sure a lot of the National Tyres centres have Hunter machines, I know my local one does (not saying I'd use them to be honest, as last time I went there they seemed to be a bunch of apes I wouldn't trust wielding a donut near my car, let alone a spanner at my local!).

Have read good reports about wheels in motion, but that was from forum posts a few years ago.
Are they still operating as WIM, with Tony Bones? Or are they now just incorporated into Blackboots with operators employed by themselves?

It is effectively the same business marketed as tyre fitters or alignment specialists depending on your needs. I have used them 3-4 times with varying degrees of success depending on who actually does the work. Ranging from very good to decidedly average. After the last time I wouldn't go back. As they have expanded it is pot luck who works on your car.

They don't do any mechanical fixes, simply optimising what is possible on the day. If there is an underlying issue you'll have to take the car away and revisit once parts have been replaced. Example rear camber boots were seized and even supplying new parts they were not interested in changing them. There is no doubt they know what they are doing from a technical perspective, but the service is focussed on filling specific time slots with a very targeted offering at the premium end of the market. Also being "experts" they assume that everyone else is clueless and couldn't possibly begin to understand what they are talking about. I have used TDI South (TDI plc) in Essex several times who are renowned Honda tuners and car set up specialists, very friendly, highly skilled and no bull, but a bit more expensive than average.

As usual, BMW are about 100 over what it'd cost to have all adjustments done at anywhere else.

I had KDS at BMW Sandal Wakefield in 2012 (6 years ago, eek!) for 125 ish.

Spot on job, replaced a snapped rear spring in the morning while it was there too!

I'm not sure I'd use them if they're looking at 185 these days!

It seems inflation is hitting everything these days except salaries!

Wouldn't be surprised if the car still ends up at one of the local alignment shops

The dealers 185 does appear over priced as I had mine done at Bowker Preston last April which was 85 so maybe you have a base for negotiation
