You can run a staggered setup on xDrive, but I'm telling you right now to not. There are a plethora of things that could go bad, and just to list off a few known after-affects
1. When your front tires are smaller than the rear they move faster and have less overall area. As a result, the AWD system will think your front tires are slipping and thus they will cut power. 2. Increased/Uneven tread wear because the car thinks that fronts are going faster, and then will cut power to the front 3. Performance losses |

No problem with staggered, most of the factory allowed fitments are staggered too.
According to many, you should stay within 1% of difference in diameter between front and rear tires (not this case, as it is slightly more) and in general as close as possible. If you want to follow that rule, you can consider 245/35+255/35, 235/40+265/35, 245/40+275/35, 235/35+275/30,... check it easily using https://tiresize.com/comparison/ . You can find many examples of those fitments in the tire section. In case your car is not lowered, consider fitting higher profile tires to fill the fender gap of x-drive (and get better comfort). |

Hi!
This is my first post. Sorry to hijack, but better than starting a new post I think. BMW in the UK, recommend a staggered set up as far as I know. I have a 2014 435dx that came with 225 / 255 split on 20 inch BMW wheels. Can you clarify why BMW recommend this? I've now created my own thread, so you can ignore or respond there.
