How to permanently open exhaust valve 340i?

Title. 2018 340i X-Drive. Different YouTube tutorials are telling me different things so I figured I’d post on here. With the valves open, will it burble in all modes? Does it harm the car or throw a check engine light? Reversable? Thank you!

few ways...

1. remove spring clip between the actuator and the valve. Use stainless wire to tie the valve open. No codes

2. Use a diagnostic tool like Bimmerlink, or BM3/MHD and force open the exhaust flap. Then disconnect the harness from the actuator. Will throw a shadow code, but not a CEL. Use the following to not even throw a shadow code: https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-5...or-plug-cover/

Burbles aren't related to the exhaust valve that much. I have an M Performance Exhaust which doesnt have an exhaust valve, and I only hear burbles when in Sport/Sport+ mode.

exhaust valve being open or closed doesn't harm the car in any way, and would not throw a CEL.

Put the car in sport mode, unplug the valve while the car is on and it is open. Tape up plug.

You can buy an aftermarket valve controller from Dahler, Valvetronic etc. This gives you full control over the flap and you can leave it permanently open but still retain the ability to close it. You can even program your garage door opener buttons to control the valve.

Any suggestion on what tape to use. Looking for something that wont melt due to the high heat.

The valve actuator pin on my car fell off and the flp is making a horrible rattling sound. I got a new pin, and tried installing it but gave up after spending a good 6 hours!! I will remove the actuator and will zip tie the plug as you suggested but how do I keep the flap from rattling? Any suggestions? (i have a 2016 328 btw. OP, Sorry if I am hijacking your post)

Pin shouldn't take more than 5 mins to install, either you got the wrong one or you're doing it wrong. There's lots of yt videos on it . Flap will continue to rattle until you have the pin in place. Just take your time with it, but not 6 hours ...

Another similar option is the CG Precision VSC-1. I've had it on my car for about 8 months and have been very happy with it. I think it's a more affordable version than some of the others listed.

Always open is great…until it's not. Just for those (possibly rare?) moments you may want it closed, it's with the small price to do it the right way.
