ZF8 service procedure

I am preparing to change the fluid in the ZF8, transfer case and diffs. Diffs & transfer case is straight forward, but I'd be grateful if someone could proof read my notes/planned procedure for the gearbox.

I'll be filling the gearbox with a helper from the engine bay with a funnel & long piece of hose.

Car jacked up, level, with 4 wheels off the ground.

Undo fill plug, remove drain plug, leave to drain & remove pan, leave to drip a little while longer.

Reinstall new filter/pan, 4nm + 45 deg torque, moving in a star pattern from corner to corner around the pan.

Fill until dripping out of fill plug with engine off.

Start engine, wait until fluid is 40-50c, shift from D to R & back, with foot on the brake. Shift through all gears (1-8) at 2000 rpm to fill TC.

With the engine still running, top-up the gearbox.

Thanks in advance

I'm sure someone has a bmw-specific process but this is something I grabbed off the net.

Attached is the official procedure from ZF. Per ZF there's no torque angle on the plastic pan bolts and it's 10nm.

You've got the procedure correct. Do it exactly as you have noted, and you're in business. I did mine in September, and it's not a bad job. I am NOT a mechanic.
