930B9B Front passenger seat occupancy detection, voltage supply: Short circuit to neg

Hi,

I'm getting the error code shown in title. I was told by my mechanic that the seat mat needs to be replaced, I was told it's a common problem and they aren't cheap to change and they can easily break. So I decided to get an emulator today. I sent the shop my VIN and based on that they sen't me an emulator, which I installed today. I think the installation was done correctly, since even if the seat is empty, I'm getting the seat belt chime (I haven't installed the seat belt bypass yet). When I go to delete the error with Carista, it says the error was successfully deleted but it came back. So I drove to my local mechanic to get him to delete the code with his scanner (thought maybe Carista wasn't able to remove it) and he said the same thing, can't remove it. I'm now completely lost. Any idea what can cause this to happen? Can I maybe somehow code out the whole thing? I don't have kids, so I'm not worried about getting rid of the whole system.

I have a 2013 BMW F30 318D - EU version.

Thank you, any help is appreciated!

Thank you for your answer. Do you by any chance have a guide on how to do it properly? I've seen couple of topics about it, but most of them only suggest things to try out.

Do you know what you are getting with this what you talking about??? If you code out your airbag will never activate so in case you have someone forward you will take responsibiltty for his/her death. If you put emulator it will be always turn on like someone sitting there so airbag will always blown.

Does it stay off if the seat belt is latched? If so a seat belt extender can be left in place to make the car think the seat belt is latched.

I don't think that's how it works. If you code out the passenger check, all it should do is bypass the weight restriction check, so the airbag always deploys in an accident, which is fine for me, I don't have kids.

The belt chime goes away when the seatbelt is buckled, but the error never goes away, that's my main problem. I'm going to buy a cable and install INPA on my laptop to try and remove the error, if it comes back my only option is to bring it in to the dealer... which is painful. When I brought it in last time they only said there's a short circuit in the sensor and needs more investigation, they literally told me the error code for 150 euros, which I basically already knew...

They be thieves. The original intent of OBD diagnostics was to reduce the time required to diagnose problems. That should have lowered the cost of repairs. Instead it's increased the cost of repairs, as stealerships treat it as a cash cow. Back in the days long before OBD when I worked in a garage if we told a customer we were going to charge them upwards of $100 to just look at the car and diagnose the problem they'd have left us in the rear view mirror.
