The Bootmod3 N55 stock turbo E50 testing that I was involved with, finished up back in February 2022. At the time the same testing for aftermarket turbos was on going. I had assumed that was finished by now.

Since you're on the inside, drop them a message and see if they will give you some additional information on if the plebs will ever see those maps!

So giving it less ethanol will make it run rough, probably with excess timing adjustments. It's no different than running a 93 Octane tune, but putting 91 Octane in the tank. By the same token, giving the engine a higher percentage of ethanol than an E30 or an E50 tune will NOT gain any performance. That extra octane will be wasted. Now it will probably run smoothly with few if any excess timing adjustments. Just like running a 91 Octane tune while putting 93 Octane in the tank. A non-static FlexFuel MultiMap tune however is different. It will read the exact percentage of ethanol coming from the tank via the CANBus ethanol sensor. The FlexFuel tune will dynamically adjust to get the optimal engine performance out of the available ethanol octane. One caveat with Bootmod3 MultiMap FlexFuel tunes is that whatever map you choose is the MINIMUM fuel that you intend to put in the tank. It's really no big deal. When we are in our local area I leave our map on 93 Octane because that's the least we would ever put in the tank. That MultiMap tune will scale from 93 Octane all the way up to full E85. But if we are traveling, the fuel availability and fuel quality is unknown. So I just click over to a minimum 91ACN tune. (No reflashing is necessary. It takes just seconds using the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel) That 91ACN map can handle it if we get a crap tank of gas when we are five states away. And it will still scale all the way up to full E85 too! Hope this helps! |
