They still treat XM and Sirius differently.
Then I got a pretty good deal at $5 a month with Howard stern. Looks like it's just missing one sports package on the select package. Will have to see how I can renew without the price increase. Should I call in and say cancel auto renew but keep it working till the end of the 6 months and see if they'll offer another 6 months at $5? Not wanting to pay more than 3 times the amount at $16 a month I'd just use amazon music at that point which is already included with prime. The other thing that sux though is you don't get streaming apparently.

Quality sucks but yes, we have it on both cars and continue to renew at the 6 month trial rate. I call every 6m, say cancel and then get the rate again. We get it (in order of priority) for CNBC, Bloomberg, comedy stations, sports channels, and KidzBop/Disney for the kids. We never listen to music.

You can't cancel the auto-renew. Set a reminder in your calendar to call them on the last day of your 6-month term. Then tell them you want them to extend the promotional rate or else you are cancelling. They will then say they have a great deal at $99 per year for Select. You tell them no dice, not worth it. Then they will "find" another deal like the one you have. I've been doing this for 5 years.

I just get the 6 months for $25 but I pay by check so they can't mess with h my CC. There is a fee for paying by check but it's only a couple bucks.

Current Sirius Select promotion: $30 for 6 months or $60 for 12 months. The 12-month promo is a rarity; I can always get them to agree to the 6-month promo, even if it is not advertised. And they will credit your prorated subscription fee of your remaining term, so if you want to call and re-negotiate fewer times this year, it's worth calling now.

Dammit, I was going to cancel today (literally within the next few days too) Thanks for the heads-up!

Yes I would call to cancel and see if you can get a deal for 12 months.

You don't even need to cancel. I have 2 cars, one with a term expiring this week and another with a term expiring in February. I called to renegotiate the term expiring this week before it extended (intending to use the threat to cancel if they didn't play ball)--but when I saw that they had a 12-month deal, I asked if I could also extend my other car expiring in February. Now both cars have a 1-year deal at $60/yr each; and I got a credit on the price for the car with the term that ended in February. No threats were necessary.

So all you have to do is call and say you want to extend now, and you get the deal, and they credit whatever is left on your current deal to the price.

The deal pops up on their website--it's an advertised promo, not one of those deals you have to threaten to cancel to get.
