What does e sys or bimmercode say your head unit reads as? If it's hu_nbt you are fine, if it's entrynav2 I don't think this box will work

HU_ENTRYNAV works, that's what mine is. I have the same interface as shown in the picture.

yeah I can see the picture now, didn't show up in Mobile view when I first looked. It looks nbt id4, but I thought all the f30s switched to id5 for my17

It’s been confusing because it is a 2017. It seems like they didn’t switch if you don’t have navigation.

makes sense i guess. come to think of it i hadn't seen id5/id6 on 6.5 inch screens, but all the bimmertech and other charts indicates that f series moved id5 starting in july 2016 for my17

so either way, it should be good news for you being able to use the box. id recommend upgrading to a 8.8 inch screen as well. that was the first thing i did and i cant imagine using carplay on the smaller screen

I continue to have problems with CarPlay connecting on its own. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I think I may have narrowed it down to physical proximity between my phone and the Andream box. If the phone is in my pocket (right pocket), which is only about 18"-24" from the Andream box that's sitting beneath the main head unit, an automatic connection is hit or miss.

If I take the phone out of my pocket and put it in the little tray by the cupholders, so it's only about 8" from the Andream unit, so far it connects every time.

Once it's connected, the phone can be anywhere in the car and it works fine, and is responsive. This makes me think the problem is Bluetooth, because the CarPlay connection is initiated by a Bluetooth connection first before hooking up via WiFi.

I'm not sure yet how to solve this but I'm going to experiment with moving the antenna around. I'm not even sure if the antenna is used for Bluetooth or just Wifi, but I'm going to give it a shot.

That's good to know but I would assume it works similar to any other 10W wireless chargers. Either the only reason I usually charge my device is to not have it discharge while driving. Most of my charging is done at night/desk at work so I am ok if it even keeps the device at same level over the drive.

I didnt read all 50 pages, is there anything else on the wish list as far as coding people want me to look at?

1. AA resolution

So you never updated. Did setting 2 off work with the 360 cameras?

Also, I can't seem to find on any of the install videos what the 3.5mm connectors do. Does the male 3.5mm mic connecter need to be plugged into the female connector for OEM mic to work?? Plus there's an extra 3.5mm male.. what is that for?

Echo, other people hear themselves during phonecalls, no fix as of yet.

I also got in contact with Sunplus and they gave me access to their git repo for the SP7021 SoC (see https://sunplus-tibbo.atlassian.net/...s/doc/overview) which I believe is the one powering our units.

I was in talks with a manufacturer in china and ordered through them, there is a new version currently under production and will be out soon. No major updates from what they say just a new "batch" iwth maybe this months chip? They dont communicate well - even in chinese. I'll update whenever it ships.

Been a while since I visited here. Anyone know if the update fixes the thing where when you're in backup camera and use click wheel to change settings it also seems to be doing stuff in the background to CarPlay as if the input is simultaneously being used in back up camera screen and CarPlay?

i haven't noticed anything being changed in carplay when playing in settings

I answered my own questions so I'll share them. First of all when I had 2 set to off the screen didn't come on.. it kind of freaked me out. Also none of the 3.5mm connectors were needed for me.

It would be great if they could update the box so that there's an option to connect to AA wirelessly all the time instead of having to switch the idrive over to the unit as soon as the engine is switched on just so that I can click connect on the pop up window that comes up to connect wirelessly

Oh no not in settings.
But like when you put the car in reverse and then want to change contrast and use the click wheel or whatever to change it in backup camera screen, I think that input is also getting put into CarPlay unit.
