My sales guy just emailed and said he had forwarded it to "the chap who deals with this" so I will see. I think the code in the glovebox was for the dealer to load the software and they just left it behind. It's fair to say that the dealer loaded with the latest version they had available at the time and it's not their fault a new map came out within days, but I'd expect them to offer a code FOC.

If I was a betting man then I'd say the code is only for the maps loaded on your car 1 year ago. It is defo not lifetime, the map cost is a joke considering the initial cost of the pronav.

Can I ask another (possibly) dumb question.

Having downloaded the (19GB+) files with uTorrent on my Win 8 PC, into the folder Europe_Next_2015-1, I then used WinRAR to extract the files which by default set up a sub folder called Europe_Next_2015-1 within the folder of the same name.

When I look in the subfolder, I don't see the files, just 5 further subfolders

Any idea where the 21 extracted files would be?

The 21 files are rar files. They have been split into X (21) parts to make downloading easier. Anyway once you have uncompressed the files:

Copy the above into the root of a USB, when you plug into your car it will recognize that newer maps are available.

Check the preferences in UTorrent for the download location or search your PC for *.rar.

You need to copy that hierarchy within that Europe_Next_2015-1 to the root of your usb stick.

Kitster - I don't really understand this. The 21 rar files are in the folder Europe_Next_2015-1. I used WinRAR to extract them (I think) which resulted in the subfolder I have described above.

Can you explain what I need to do now? If I need to uncompress files then how do I do that?

OK, so you've uncompressed the 21 rar files and you have the subfolder. Now copy the contents of the subfolder into the root of a 32GB FAT32 USB stick.

You've already uncompressed them. You need to copy the entire contents of the sub-folder created as a result of this uncompression (i.e. Europe_Next_2015-1 within the folder Europe_Next_2015-1) into the root of a 32Gb USB stick.

Any recommendation of someone to provide the FSC code, or just pick one of the eBay ones with decent feedback?

Thanks xenon and Kitster. If I can buy a lifetime code for £25, then I guess it may not be worth the hassle for me to generate the code given my IT skills are a bit dated - I haven't read the detail but I assume this needs the cable mentioned above.

It doesn't look difficult from Kitster's excellent guide, but you will need an ENET cable and they seem to be about £20 so you're probably right.

Be careful these so called 'lifetime' codes only last 3-5 times! I found Kitster's FSC code guide great after buying my ENET cable from eBay. Now I have my FSC file from the car I can generate as many map codes as I like.
