I did a very quick photoshop check using pics from AWE's website and superposed the 335i dual exhaust and the 328i quad exhaust.

I would think that a dual exhaust solution should not be a problem for a 3/428i if you already have a 3/435i diffuser fitted. I personally do not think that a quad exhaust is a must. A dual exhaust, with the AWE tips, already looks the part and function > form.

Of course, AWE tuning could answer all these questions pretty easily!

PS: My 335i Touring + Performance Mid Pipe exhaust is on order BTW

My understanding is that options are in the works for those with 328i and don't want quad tips.

I just posted to question to Mike on AWE's thread too.

^^ thank you ATLBlue! In your photo you can see how the tips are not aligned between the left and right sides. On the left side, the single tip is aligned with the outside tip of the quad. On the right side, the single tip is more aligned with the inner tip of the quad. So in essence, the dual (335) version needs to shift to the right in order for the tips to be aligned with the diffuser exhaust cutouts. This is consistent with what I saw when I had the 435 muffler + diffuser added to my 428. The part where the muffler connects to the midpipe was more centered on the car. I am tempted to just get the 435 AWE exhaust and mod it to fit my 428 but I am worried that it wont sound good since it wasnt designed for it.

My photoshop attempt is far from perfect (and pics were not taken under the exact same angle).
Let's see what AWE says. Also, I do not know if their '180' drone deletion setup is the same for the 428 and the 435 even if the piping and muffler look extremely similar.

Here's the question asked to Mike @ AWE in his thread:

"Hi Mike, not asking the question for myself, but there are a bunch of guys out there who have already retrofitted a 3/435i exhaust with dual tips on their 3/428i. Could they simply upgrade to the 3/435i AWE exhaust or should they still have to go to for AWE's 3/428i exhaust?

Also, if someone does not want to cut the diffuser of his 3/428i M Sport, could he use a 3/435i M Sport diffuser and use your 3/428i exhaust but with dual tips instead of quad? "

And his answer:

"Possible? Yes."

David @ TAG' answer:

"If someone has a 328i/428i and wants the dual without cutting you can always buy the 335i/435i rear diffuser from BMW directly, it's a real easy modification."

I'll stop duplicating posts from other threads but thought I would bring this question to closure.

More info and follow up on AWE's thread: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1092044

While I now (im)patiently wait for my AWE tuning exhaust, I need to stay busy one way or the other... Following tboooe 's footsteps, I got M-style kidney grilles for my F30. Not that I am on a path of making my neighbors and non BMW-literate people believe I drive an M3, but because I like to make my car look a bit different than stock while staying close to an OEM style.

Here are the stock and M-style grilles:

A picture with the stock grille still installed on the left and the new grille on the right. The M-style grille double fins are a bit more recessed, which is not necessarily better IMHO:

In the end the fitment is better than I expected and I am satisfied with the result:

NICE!!! Something about the EB color and black just looks awesome! Did you get these from JB Speed?

Next up for me are the M4 side blades and M performance diffuser...then Bilsteins!!!

I am jealous of your exhaust. I may have to just bite the bullet and get the 435 one and have my muffler shop work their magic.

F30 in the Atlanta snow

As we were preparing for another Snowpocalypse (I can see people in the North ROFL ), I intentionally left my car outside in the hope of eventually getting a picture with a thick layer of snow for another thread ("Post your car in the snow").

I did not quite get there... There is more snow forecasted for tonight, but the car is back in the garage as I rather have it dry and warm to go to work tomorrow.

Totally unimpressive, I agree

Looking forward to it. f30luxline has done a great job bringing the local F30 community together. He, and several others -not sure about myself yet- will be at Caffeine & Octane this Sunday (http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1086872) and there is also a Tail of the Dragon trip in the making

Car Meets

While waiting for my AWE exhaust -it should be there end of next week -, here are a few pictures I took at car meets over the last couple of months. No F30 material, just sharing a few likes and dislikes...

Some say that the iDrive display looks weird, kind of a tablet glued on the dash. Well, what would they say about this Camaro ? Maybe it is simply because it is more fun to play Angry Birds than driving this car?

More Camaro material . Just expressing personal opinions, whatever floats someone's boat is fine.

M3 with blacked out headlights (by ONEighty) I like the B&W contrast.

Nice E9... right next to f30luxline

Another E9 with the cleanest engine bay I have seen in a while

Window stickers

...and a funny one

What orange car do you like best?

Over the top ?

Cops love car meets

Nothing like a few tickets on a Sunday morning

Did you go to the first Perimeter meet? I seen your son there in the M3.

Both the e9's were very tastefully done The one you have a pic of I feel was the better of the two, more original.

Only fools don't change their mind...

A few months ago I tried hard to convince myself that 18" wheels was the size that made the most sense, that 400M's look better than many other rims (still believe it BTW), etc.

I finally gave in and got myself 19". I revisited several options and went for the Spartan's I had looked at initially. They may look a bit pedestrian to some, but they grew on me.

The best part are not the rims, but the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. I had no point of comparison driving the F30 with anything else than the Potenza S001 run flats, but they never felt great. The Michelin are in a completely different league: more accurate, smoother and quieter, with better traction in the dry and the wet. I had them on a few cars before but did not think they would transform the ride of my car so much. This led me to two conclusions:
1. Do not wait until you need to replace them to get rid of your run flats. Do yourself a favor and throw them away tomorrow. Tires may be expensive, but in retrospect, it is the best mod I have done so far.
2. It is a complete shame for BMW to keep mounting RFT's on the 'Ultimate Driving Machine' .

Enough talk, here are a few pics:

I have different spacers at the front and removed them at the rear which means I'll have a pair of 10mm and a pair of 15mm ECS tuning spacers listed in the classifieds shortly.

Yeah I need to just suck it up and get the PSS tires. I am so sick of the runflats. They grip alright but just feel like I am rolling around on concrete tires.

What are your wheel specs?

BTW, I happen to like simple wheel designs myself. My personal faves are simple 10 spokes. I personally think the more "creative" designs are too racer boy for me and BMW in general.

Your car looks great!

Looking forward to your AWE review once installed, mine is on order as well, though I opted for single outlet rather than quad

I opted for single tips vs quad as well. Did not want to mess up with the diffuser. Delivery is scheduled for tomorrow

Probably not. I have registered for the 'BMW Ultimate Driving Experience' Sunday morning. Probably nothing more than a 10 min autoX and 30 min sales pitch I am afraid, so I may still change my mind...
