Joining the club:) - Mud Guard question
Hello Everyone,
I have just ordered my new 320d Luxury line GT last week and it seems that it will be delivered before Christmas! I was planning to get a 330d but I could not get it with the current budget and without a lease + the taxes here for that kind of power are insane... The test drive with the 320d was a total joy anyway... but boys will be boys... I was a Saab guy for 9 years, finding a unique car with crazy hatchback design was quite a big deal to me I really don't understand why does this beauty get so much hate. Anyway I've spent my last month on reviews/configs and browsing your Forum I saw that it might be a good idea to get some mud flaps on the GT. My mileage/year is quite high with random road conditions. Do you have any tips about this issue? Thanks in advance! Best Regards, Thomas Last edited by Skald; 11-02-2015 at 04:59 PM.. |

Mudflaps were the first thing I added. In the two weeks before I got them the body panels behind the wheel wells clearly showed road dirt being tossed onto them by the tires. After installing them there was much less.

Mud
we had mud flung up on our side panels the first day of driving it. but i'm not sure mud flaps would have prevented this since it seems to come off the wheel pretty high up.

No, none whatsoever. In my opinion they are an absolute must, especially up here in the north east of Scotland.
My present 328i Luxury GT has had them on from new, and my new 335i Luxury GT, which I collect on Friday, is having them fitted prior to collection. I suppose if your car is a really light colour, they might stand out a bit more, but on the darker colours they blend nicely. Here's a picture of my current car in Midnight Blue 328iGT_3819 copy by Alan Butterfield, on Flickr My new car is in Mineral Grey, so I think the mud flaps will be just fine on it.

The mud flaps fit well and look great on the F34 gt. I put them on in an hour and it was easy. I was so impressed I ordered them for my e92 335 coupe. Well that was totally different. They did not fit well, require drilling etc and generally looked and mounted poorly. I took them off my E92 but love them on my F34 gt.

I want some flaps for my new 335d M sport Touring, but the dealer tells me you can't get them for the M Sport.... Has anyone fitted any to their M Sport? As we all know, dealers don't know everything.
Many thanks. |

Haven't installed mine yet, just waiting for the temperature to warm up a bit or will need to find a heated garage so the 3m tape will stick. |

on my previous link, you can search for parts for your specific car. as these are OEM, should tell you if they are available or not. or just email them.

There are double sided tape inside of the mud guards where they made contact to the car's body. It should keep the guards from scratching the paint.
Installed mine a while ago when the temperature was warmer. I jacked up the car and took one wheel off a time, and it wasn't too difficult to do it yourself. They definitely help keeping the front doors and the rear bumper sides cleaner than before. Quote:
