The oil exchange thing makes absolutely no sense. I work in the recycling business and it costs money to dispose of used oil.

They are going to incur the cost of disposal and mail you out new oil too? For free?

Does not make sense.

I read their site. I guess the catch is... you will always be one order ahead of the game.

By the time you are refunded for the first purchase, you will have purchased and received your second... therefore spent $130 or so on oil to get the first $65 back, as a credit towards another purchase from them.

Not the worst deal ever but definitely not without a catch.

Wondering what it would cost to ship 5 qts of oil back to them... 20$ or so, I figure.

Around here, every auto parts store has free used oil recycling. It's much more convenient to take a jug of oil to the local store than to ship it, IMHO. And considerably cheaper.

I just did this. Cost me $20 to return the oil via FedEx and I was credited the full $58 original purchase price to apply to whatever else I want on their site. So yes, not exactly "free"... but still a pretty good deal. Think about stuff like like brake pads though...they won't cost anywhere as much to ship back.

Except you don't get credited for returning your oil to FCP for use towards your next (oil) purchase.
A shop local to me burns used oil to heat the building.

That is crazy. So when my oil changes through BMW are done, why would I not turn to these guys? Anyone?

You're on the other side of the country from them, so shipping costs can be a factor, but you need to do the math.

Hmm... good point. I can't imagine shipping costing as much as an oil change, though, but who knows.
