Wow that's right out of the (Hera) Blue!!! Congratulations that a beautiful car and no mistake.

I'm back in the must-have-an-M camp (the RS3 saloon I've put a deposit on is still in the running, but well you know...)

Tell me young Mark, where did you do your research? I scour Autotrader and BMW AUC but not seen this on there or I might well have pulled the trigger myself.

Is there somewhere else I can see all these jewel-like M3s or was it down your local dealership and you happened to be driving by?

There's loads on the Barons website. I'm tempted myself!

No, his is more purple whereas this is very blue (I think) - we'll get some side by sides - I reckon they may just clash

Thanks.

Story was (cutting it short!)...
  • X5 is 1 year old - email from dealer 'come for a free clean and coffee'
  • No clean but I go in for the coffee and to remind them of the i8 loaner promised as a result of poor prep on the X5 when new
  • i8 is sold and I'm offered 'anything from the demo pool' for the weekend; I take the M4 CP Convertible
  • Drop car back Sunday night (not my salesman) and send email late Sunday to say 'thanks - I know what my next car will be...'
  • 8.30 Monday - email from dealer 'have you got a spare 10 minutes - we have an idea to suite all' (followed by phone call a bit later)
  • Monday PM - numbers sent to me - no go, too much.
  • Wednesday - better numbers received.
  • Friday - dropped in to take a look
  • Friday + 10 minutes - signed

So yes it's been around but it was a direct call. They have loads of pre-reg but this is by far the best spec.

Nice work.

I think that's what puts people off, the high APR on pcp.

So it's possible to match the same APR as a new car then? Or get close?
Do you have to haggle for that?

APR on my deal started at 10.8%, settled at 6.4% - considering new is 5.9% I was happy.

That plus the £10k negative equity on my X5 being cleared

EDIT: Yes HAGGLE - apparently BMW FS will move to 8% under normal circumstances but pulled out all the stops for my deal - increased the GFV and decreased the APR

If it's under 6months pre reg the PCP offers are the same.

So the 6-odd% I was aware of - but if they swallowed £10k neg equity that's like saying.... £10k off the sticker price isn't it. That's advanced pro-level haggling. And a stretch on the GFV too!!

Given how many they have got I am not surprised that they want to do a deal to sell one, the market for these cars must be limited even in the South East.

Potentially they may have had a customer for the X5 which prompted the call for a coffee, either that or they knew there was the potential for a deal as Mark was financially suitable.

Either way great car and a great deal so everyone happy.

Don?t know about a limited M3 market as they sell bucket loads of them from this dealership alone but I imagine the market will be flooded over the next year or so before it?s discontinued.

The fact is we?re entering winter season and the X5 will shift in no time; again they sell bucket loads of them... every model.

I think all in with what they swallowed they are likely to make ~£4K ish on the X5 and perhaps a little on the M3.
