Knee vs. center console

I drove an M3 for a week and I noticed that there's a cushion where my knee rests on the center console. How can I fit that to my F30? I wish I didn't drive the M3 because now the F30 is unfortunate for a skinny 6'6" person like me!!!

Someone recently did that only to find out that it doesnt line up with their knee in the F30.

Complete waste of time and money.

I found the answer and I'll leave it here as opposed to removing my post. Maybe it'll help someone!

I honestly dont know... I just remembered seeing this recently.

If it worked then great but to just have a hunk of padding there for no useful reason sounds dumb to me.

Its possible that different size drivers would have a different experience?

To actually hit your knee on the pad, you would need to be about 5ft tall or less and the seat so far up that your face was actually over the steering wheel....like a 90 year old driver.

If over 5 feet even, would still need your face over steering wheel to be angled for your lower leg to hit the pad at some place.

I posted this question a month ago b/c I came across the same idea, my leg was uncomfortable against the lower center console. One of the other forum members chimed in that he went through all the work of installing the expensive OEM pad and his knee doesn't even hit that spot. I went back to my car and observed it also to be true for me (I am 5'10" if that helps give you any idea).

I ended up installing one of these stick on pads:

https://www.amazon.com/Cushion-Suppo...w+f30+knee+pad

It doesn't look as clean at the OEM one, but it's way cheaper and gets the job done. If you do some searching, I bet you can find it cheaper than the one i posted. I bought mine for around $10-11 per cushion.

I've honestly never used that pad. It didn't touch my knee for the 3 years I drove an M3. They removed it from the M3 CS if that is any indication and I don't miss it. Looked kinda nice though.

I'm 6'6" and I only noticed it when I drove an M3. Looking at options of retrofitting and other alternatives makes me want to settle for how my car is and not go through the trouble. Thanks though!

Thanks all. It looks like I either buy an M3 or settle for what I have.

If you want to use the knee pad thing as an reason to get the M3, by all means go for it

Here are some pictures of the pad I'm currently using. Cheap, effective, and easily removable. Can be placed a little higher, but I like it out of the way.
