Sandy claims a family member...

well it was only 2 short months and only 887 happy miles and she's already gone, taken too soon by the demon that went by the name of Sandy. I lost 3 cars and untold possessions and suffered considerable home damage, but many had it much worse so Im lucky I suppose.

Here are some parting shots of my beloved F30 and a sneak peak of the replacement

Sorry to hear that.

Glad you're okay. What exactly happened to the F30? Damage from flooding?

Sorry to hear about your losses. Hopefully they were only material possessions which can be replaced.

As in that sweet new Grand Coupe you've got coming your way. Enjoy. Park her high and dry!

Damn man, I saw you cleaning out your garage the other day, didn't realize the car got damaged. That sucks but you're right, it's just a car at the end of the day and a lot of people got hit a lot worse.

My mom's house was down on Northern Blvd, same story with lots of structural damage but at least nothing of real sentimental value destroyed.

Sorry for your losses...it's scary how big of a mess it's been down in that area and we weren't even as bad as Island Park/Oceanside, let alone Queens or Jersey.

I'll pour one out...that F30 was gorgeous. :-(

She was flooded to high hell, totaled on the spot but what can we do. I was hoping it wouldn't get inside, but in the A.M. there was water high in the car up to the rear bench, at that point there's nothing you can do about it. The neighbor hood is so f*d up still, just got power last note and still no heat nor hot water since they were destroyed too. One day at a time at this point, glad your Mom was ok.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts, the GC is amazing btw

How dare we complain about our climate in the UK. It's so mild in comparison especially in London. No such extremes as in the USofA.

So sad you have had to go through such a trauma. At least, you and your family are safe. Possessions can be repalced, lives cannot. Hopefully, Insurance will cover your costs, but unfortunately the inconvenience must be quite trying.

So, you've got yourself a boat of a car enabling you to sail the Seven Seas and overcome Sandy-like situations.

Looking at the pictures, the F30 looked pretty prestine. One can be dead but still look good! Your F30 went out in style!

Too true and too kind for your thoughts of concern. Insurance is sticky and doesnt cover all things, I"ll be taking serious losses but thats just part of life

She certainly went out in style though

Definitely not benefiting in any way, but couldnt wait to have another Msport built, and found a reasonable deal on the GC to lift my spirits

Attached below is a link to the thread on 6er board with a bunch more pix of the GC if you want to see it in the light

That stinks but couldn't you have moved it to a family or friends property at higher ground?

I know a dealership near me that moved every single car off its lot and onto higher ground, well in advance of the storm.

This area hasn't had this kind of flood water in over 100 years. Even with Hurricane Irene which caused a ton of water to come in only a few blocks away left these parts dry.

No one predicted this kind of storm surge, even the worst case scenarios. There was flood damage so far away you could literally walk for almost 30 minutes from where flood water reached, to where the water starts in some areas.

My friend moved his brand new F30 to higher ground...and the car was stolen during the storm. Can't believe what kind of scumbag it takes to go out looting during a disaster. That's kind kind of person that needs to DIAF.

To m630:

Your new car is simply stunning. It makes your departed F30 (and mine for that matter) look a bit dumpy! I simply adore the interior, especially the colour of the leather. Perfect taste. May it eventually make Sandy a distant memory. You deserve more joy after all the unnecessary trauma. I just can't imagine how horrible it must have been and still is for you.

The very best of British to you and your family.

Can you explain your thoughts on the switch?

Just wanted something different, or you feel the 640 is doing certain things much better than your F30?

I seriously doubt the insuarnce from the F30 paid for the new GC, a brand new GC is $80K+.
