that plastic has to be some of the crappiest quality plastic i have ever seen. I baby my car... swiffer dusters, microfiber cloths... and the plastic on mine is all scratched. my hands have never even touched it...
it sucks that they would have to replace the entire unit... doubtful that if i complained that they would cover it under warranty...
at least its a lease... 2 more years and i wont have to stare at it.
next one i'll have to use one of those air compressed dusters that i use on my computer

That's why you don't go to car washes. Or at least don't let them touch the interior.

Polish it. Meguiars #10 plastic polish. Super easy and very effective. You run a much greater risk of secondary damage trying to replace the cluster.

I really can't believe the whole cluster is 1 piece. You used to be able to order just the clear plastic. The scratch is unbelievably deep, there's no way it will polish out.

If I was you I wouldn't waste my time, I feel your pain but if you get that replaced the first time you take it to the dealer for service when they wash it and vacuum it they will scratch it again

In what car? As far back as the E36, the plastic has never been sold separately for the 3 series.
