Power to the people

I'm thinking of starting a Facebook, Twitter and Google+ profile to summarize the complains of the F30 owners.
It seems to me it will be much harder for BMW to ignore such public / in your face feedback as opposed to when the feedback is buried in forums.

BMW doesn't care (too much) about the current owners - you bought the car, you're pretty much stuck. What they care A LOT MORE about are the prospective clients, the ones that are trying to decide if their next car is going to be a 3 series vs C, A4 etc. And if a undecided guy sees 50 complains about the AC noise, about wind noise, etc he might think twice.

I have around 7 years of experience in Social Media and over 13 in web. I'm pissed enough to put my time into doing this. I love Bimmers, this is my 5th, I don't think I will give them up anytime soon but I think BMW sometimes takes advantage of its branding and cuts a lot of corners. I want the future owners to know about those cuts and I want to force BMW into giving answers.

Opinions?

Agreed OP! This is a good idea to voice out other OPs problem regarding mechanical and technical problems. Subscribed!

Normally I wouldn't be into this type of thing...but! I've been lucky enough to have four beautiful BMWs and I still love them to death but when my latest car has rusty seat frames it makes me feel like I've been taken advantage of. I think it's a good idea to voice some concerns.

I guess there are at least 29 very happy owners. This thread has 31 views so far and only 2 replies. No reply = you are happy.

Garage List
I have not received my car yet...but I'd love to have a place to complain (besides doing it at my dealership, lol) if I run into any kind of problems.

The purpose of this action is not to bash BMW. I love this company for making me invent reasons to drive my car everywhere. But like any other (big) company I think from time to time they need a bit of ... incentive, to stay on the right path.
We will not be complaining. We will ... offer constructive feedback

The company I currently work for organizes private online communities for Inc 100 brands, where customers hand picked by the brand give feedback on current & future products, they participate in exclusive previews, etc.
So I know how to recruit, organize, ask questions, summarize feedback and pass it along. I just want to know I'm not the only one that thinks this might be a good thing.

Go for it OP. I've been badly treated by BMW as you can see from the link below:
http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=784559

They refused to accept that the seat was baggy! I had to pay to sort it out myself. The dealers are also awful.

How would this work? Are the summarized list of complaints going to be accompanied by how BMW addressed each of them, indicating BMW's position? Also will they be updated with current status/timeline? Also, how isolated are these complaints? Is a "nitpick" considered a complaint?

In my Dad's Volvo XC90 the seats also turned out like that...but then the XC90 was used, about 30k miles, so I guess it's different.

I support this, if only because I want to know more before I switch over from Volvos to BMW. Volvo dealerships can be good or downright idiotic (and slow) but they never treated me badly.

If BMW's service is like this, as you say, I will not switch over. I'm sure I don't stand alone...

I don't have a clear strategy for this, it's up for debate. That's why I started this thread, to brainstorm and crystallize my own thoughts at the same time.
I'll follow up in a few days with a process. I hope for more feedback until then.

I don't think we should only complain. We should also offer solutions / alternatives - of course if it makes sense. We love the brand and we want to improve it, not to bash it.

Funny, but I've been trolling this site for a little while... Seems like most of the complaints come from people who bought the 2012 f30. I have a 2013 msport and have no REAL issues (that is, nothing that's been repeated/complained about here.) My only issue, I'm sure is a fluke and i'll get it fixed as soon as I get a break from 12-13 hour days at work. lol...

I know I'm probably asking for it on this thread... but I thought it should be said. Maybe, BMW is just like any other car company. Maybe the first year of a new car inevitably has some kinks to work out. I think they've done a pretty good job thus far.

(since i mentioned it above, if I leave my car OUTSIDE overnight in below freezing temps, the driver's door sticks, but only after I've gotten in, and only if I've driven for under 15 minutes or so... Really strange, but I think it's just the mechanism in the one door. No issues with the others.)

It could/should be adjustable in the 'coding', if anyone dares to venture that way.

I agree too, but this constructive feedback page needs to be carefully moderated. The bash needs to be filtered and seriously complaints need to be voice appropriately if we want BMW to take it seriously. This could be a great page for all BMW owners and prospective buyers. I see great potential here!

Note:
Dealerships should be part of profiles etc so service can be tracked with all complaints.
There should be a live tally for dealer complaints. This will force dealers to shape up.

IMO it depends on the "Dealer". The first dealer I used for 2 BMW's was great and then they went down the tubes for a number of reasons and I changed dealers and went to JMK BMW and have been with them for a number of years. Since being with them I have NEVER had one complaint in there Sales, Service and Certified Body Shop. I feel they are so good that they keep me buying BMW's. Like I said IMO it depends on the dealer.Good luck
cheers

Hmm.

Someone suggests starting a page to organize complaints, his company sets up just such "private online communities", he hasn't even scouted out what communities already exist, but says "I love Bimmers".

Not that I'm saying such a community could most easily make money from charging BMW to "moderate" the resulting complaints, as there are plenty of free places to complain already ...

I am NOT happy. I have rusty seats, and the car is back in the shop almost a week with limp mode still undiagnosed, after having the aux fan replaced in January for the same thing.

BMWNA did respond timely to my rust complaint, but unfortunately ordered the wrong parts the first time. The limp mode thing is concerning.
