///M Performance Brakes - Opinions

Hey guys,

I'm seriously thinking about getting the ///M Performance Brake kit.
Orange or the Yellow calipers... which do you think will look better on my Imperial Blue 328i?

I voted yellow. I think orange is too close to the classic Brembo red. There's just something about that yellow.....

Just FYI

I'm not sure where you are getting your kit (Front and Back) from BUT if you were to visit a GTA dealer and ask for the kit, there is a price difference between red kit vs yellow/orange.

The difference is about $600.00 roughly.

I found out by calling maranello bmw

somebody is trying to make an extra $600. my dealer quoted me $3,160 for red brakes with install at port and then a few weeks later, i saw sticker price of $3,160 for the yellow brakes that were already installed to a f30 on lot at a different dealer. both were to m performance brakes with the rotors.

I would prefer Yellow too... but the colour seems a touch too light? Will have to see a live set before I decide.

Shame that Maranello is gouging people who want the Red.

$3160 for VPC installed M Performance brakes is pretty expensive. Invoice is $2295 for port installed M Performance brakes, so basically they are quoting you the same price as if you wait until after delivery and order them from getBMWparts.com for $2350 and then pay $810 labor to install...and you lose the added benefit of keeping the original parts. (I bet you could sell the original 335 brake parts to a 328 owner to retrofit for a decent price)

I was able to add the red M Performance kit to my order for invoice, just like the rest of the normal options.

To the OP, I like the orange, but not sure how that would go with your Imperial Blue. The iND demo F30 is IB with the yellow, I like it. http://www.bimmerpost.com/goodiesfor.../ind-f30-5.jpg

On Imperial blue, Yellow without a doubt.

Orange just doesn't go well with that darker blue.

Have you installed the M Sport Brakes? How do they compare to the standard 328! brakes? I dislike the spongy feel. I did get used to them.

Honestly, the red would not look bad.

You might wanna photoshop one in red to see. The iND is your best example with the yellow; I did vote for yellow.

Good luck bud!

My performance brakes are being installed at port. Not going to see them or my car for another 6 weeks!

Why don't you guys order from Tischer and install yourself? Save tons of money...

Personally I'd go with Orange because everyone does yellow. I actually went with Blue since that's what all the new M cars will have going forward (unfortunately not a choice here), but yellow is the same as the E90 and E82/88 Performance Brakes. I have yet to actually see Orange on someone's car.

Red also looks good on a blue car, but that's like the standard bbk color; i tend to like individuality. But definitely do what YOU want most. It's your car and you have to see it everyday.

I believe you would only have a 2 year warranty on the brakes if you install yourself as opposed to the full 4 year warranty on the rest of the car. Not to mention, if you negotiate the VPC-installed M Performance brakes down to invoice ($2,295) it's less than the kit from Tischer ($2,346 + shipping) and you don't have to spend time or money to install them. Only drawback I see to the VPC-installed brakes is that you lose the original parts, which could be worth a few dollars.

Do you have the full cost sheet for all of the m-perf parts?

Look on Ebay. You can get the brakes including fears for $2100. Plus
$ 55.00 shipping. My dealer quoted $ 750 for installation. Has anyone asked does BMW include the M brakes in their free maintenance program ?
Or pads and rotors on us ?

No, I'm sorry, I don't have the full list. I just pulled that snapshot of the brake prices from the VIR for my order.

The M Perf. Brakes in Canada are quite expensive.

This is what I was quoted just yesterday from Town+Country BMW:

$2450.00 plus installation and taxes. Installation is $516.80 plus taxes. Total installed cost for the brake system is $2966.80 plus taxes = $3352.48.

I have the same question! Does anyone know if the rotors and pads are cover under the free maintenance program?
