Why would you make a post on the forum rather than emailing in photos of the install to BMS for assistance?!?!

Any ETA on the official version of JB4 for the AT 335i? Whats the difference between the alpha/beta and the official release?

They leave the 'beta' tag until all bugs are worked out. I haven't had any issues with mine (other than me accidentaly holding the volume down on the stearing wheel and putting it back to Map 0 without me knowing).

Keep in mind that gmail had a beta tag for quite a while before they took it off.

When running an E85 mixture should I continue to run map 2?

I thought someone said that you should use high octane gas over E85 mixed with regular gas? Or maybe I misinterpreted it?

E85 is, in effect high octane gas. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 105-110 depending on various factors.

It's real power is that it helps resist detonation because of of how it helps keep the engine cooler, therefore allowing for higher boost, timing, etc. I guess you could liken it to high octane gas + meth combined (slightly exaggerated but you get the idea)

So we should be on map 2 with race fuel?

And we should be on Map 7 if on a 60/40 E85 mixture?

Interesting, I feel when I use a mix of 100 Octane race fuel mixed with regular 91, feel the most power.

When I use a mixture of E85 with 91, it feels slower and not as fast as the 100 octane..Still quicker than stock, but still not as good as the 100 octane.. why is this?

Hmmm. The tune needs to utilize E85 to get the most use out of it. I'm sure there is a map that takes full advantage of it (guessing 2 on the N55 F30). That said, pants dyno's can be off. I know the biggest actual dyno performers the JB4 crew has put out usually use E85.

In theory, the same E85 mix you referred to should put more power down than the 100oct mix but it won't be that much more, I'd suspect they'd be pretty close (93 alone vs a E85 mix is a difference of about 15 hp). This may be better directed to the tuning experts though. I bet someone from BMS or someone on their board can give you a better answer.

sorry if I missed it some where,

I have the previous JB4 Stage 2 for the E9X

Would it work on the new F Series 335 ? maybe just with a adapter for the plug ?

Are you doing several pulls to calibrate the different fuel before you do a comparison pull?

Where the E85 mix and 100 mix can produce the same octane rating (example 95 octane) it will take more e85 mix to make the same power than the 100 mix. So the car has to learn that it needs more e85 mix vs. 100 mix...

I felt something similar driving back from the e85 station and feeling the power difference as the JB4 adapted...pull one....pull two then once it adapted pull three, holy shit it was FUN. Effortless acceleration...and I only have JB4 & DCI!!!

What kind if E85 mix do you do? I am going to go back and add more E85 in the mix this time. I think maybe the last time, I only put like 3 or 4 gallons. Next time I will put more and will see how it is. Also I will let it adapt and see how it goes..

Anyone know what could be expected with a stock downpipe running the E85 with the JB4?
I'm not sure if this would be considered stage two because it's a stock downpipe?
Thanks.

I believe you might be referring to Stage 2, map 2. Map 1 is for stock vehicles, as far as I know. Map 2 is for those with an aftermarket downpipe.

See here: http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18588

Text:

Quote:
Map 0: Stock performance, JB4 off
Map 1: Peak boost 12.5psi, suitable for stock and mildly modified cars on pump gas
Map 2: Peak boost 14.0psi, suggested for those using a downpipe and 93 octane (USA) or higher fuels

I'm thinking I might head to BMS when I upgrade to stage 2
