M4 Convertible - Fast Car

0-60: 4.0s
0-100: 9.1s
1/4 miles 12.2s @ 117.3mph

Pretty impressive for the convertible that weighs 250kg more than an M4 coupe!!
Wonder what the M4 coupe times would be like.......

Interesting you can adjust the launch rpm with the cruise control button. Can you do this with the standard 3 series?

That is quick. An instrumented test on M3 in an American mag put a 0-100 time of 8.7 secs so would assume the coupe would be on a par. I have heard a 911 GT3 997 being quoted for around 9 seconds so by any measure the M3 / M4 family are drinking my rapid.

Best website or mag review I've seen for F80/82 was 3.7 0-60. Car and driver I think.

not sure if you saw this: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/bmw/4-s...ety-car-review

The comment is correct at the bottom, remember Ryan Giggs had a 22B back in the 90's and it was all over the Sun or Mirror newspapers.

Is it? My Impreza STi had a button on the dash which sprayed water onto the intercooler. I believe this was the same system used on the 22B. However, the BMW system apparently sprays water inside the air intake which is not the same thing.

Water injection....'new technology'?

BMW were injecting water on WWII aircraft engines. Water injection patents exists from the 1930's.......lots of amateur drag racing and turbo charge enthusiasts fit water injection kits to their own cars, even street cars.

Don't you just love when a big marques marketing dept. hook in a sensationalistic journalist. Bullshit feeding a bullshit amplification specialist.

Think SAAB had water injection on some models back in the 1970s. Of course, I'm far too young to remember.

A friend of mine did some testing with it 10 years or so ago, with interesting results. I won't bore you with the details but I do now refer to these systems as "Aquamyth".

T'was indeed in the 70's (although towards the end of it). My dad had a 99 Turbo S which had factory fitted water injection - pushed power up to about 160ish bhp. Still remember the turbo gauge stuck on top of the dashboard. Dad still recalls those days - used to have to use left foot on brake to build boost before overtaking!! By '84, with the intro of 16v on 900, they moved to turbo and intercooler so no need for water injection.

I really really do need to get out more.
