If you travelled at any speed, your headlights would appear to work normally. This is the basis for the general theory of relativity.

In a nutshell, nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. However, if you were driving your 330 at 80% of the speed of light and shone your headlights, to you, the beam would travel away from you at the speed of light. This however is impossible since it would have to be travelling at 1.8 times the speed of light and nothing can exceed the SOL.

Skipping about a page of equations, the only way to make to make it work is for the observers clock (you in the 330) to be running slow. So as you approach any significant percentage of 'c' (the SOL), time will slow down.

This has been proven.

In any event, in the words of Mr. Scott "Captain, You canna change the laws of physics".

If you are referring to the classic Newtonian physics, then you are right that it no longer apply as one approach speed of light. That's because we need to use a different frame of reference to look at things. Law of Relativity does exactly that.

We at present time don't have a unifying way to explain the seemingly discrepancy between quantum theory and classical law of physics. Nevertheless, law of physics isn't something invented by mankind. They are the working of the nature. We don't know it at present time doesn't mean it does not exist. In fact, we don't have means to travel at speed of light. So put the theory aside and don't go too crazy with the BMW thinking it could break the law of physics...

WOW. I didn't realize that little riddle would spark such conversation. But I think the real question here has not been addressed by the above discussions. It seems so obvious to me, but the question would be this:

If you are in your 330i driving at the speed of light, will that car still be slow compared to the mythical 335i?

That depends on whether or not the 335i is limited to 155mph

Actually, I believe that we (mankind) have invented the "laws of physics"...or at least the axiomata with which we feebly seek to describe the phenomena of nature created by the Almighty.

That being said, I'm never gonna go lightspeed again. While my headlights worked, my cell phone and the Sat radio completely failed, and I spent all week cleaning bugs off of the front bumper. I got passed by a Lexus (It can go twice the speed of light but can't corner at all). When I got back the dog was dead, my kids were all grown up and wouldn't fit in the back seat, gas costed twice as much and my warranty was up.

There once was a girl named Fanny Bright
Who's e90 could go faster than light
She left one day in a relative way
And returned the preceding night.

Time is measured in the distance it takes light to reach physical matter. Our perception of time is directly related to the speed of light. Therefore, if we were to accelerate past the speed of light, and even if the headlights were on, they (the event of the headlights being on) wouldn't have happened yet, in our sense of perception, relative to time...

Are we talking about xenon or halogen lights?
And if you have your xenon's AND halogen foglights on what will happen?

Just make sure you maintain the BMW flux capactor annually. You wouldn't want to be stuck in the past with nothing more to jumpstart it than just a bolt of lightning

That's just it...you speed into the future at light speed, so of course neither of the headlights have been turned on yet!

Ha ha just kidding It only works with halogen so far. Xenon tests have proven inconclusive.

Are you serious? Both are travel at the same speed. So, the results will be the same no matter which light or both.

This truly comes as a great shock to me, as I am sure it does to you too. In all seriousness, if I had known that E90 could not repeal the laws of physics, I would not have bought it. I asked my CA about this and he said it would. I am disappointed beyond description as a result of this revelation. This is my last BMW!
It's amazing what car companies have to say in order to avoid the sleazy poor lawyers out there.
