Factory Muffler flap fitted on Muffler delete?

Has anyone tried it? I was looking at my OEM muffler and was debating whether or not it would fit/work with my muffler delete. Then using the JB4 to keep the flap closed or open, depending on what i want.

I was thinking of doing this on a delete but having a resonator built in so I could run it like a switch path but ultimately didn't feel like building something like that so I went a different route

You mean like a J-pipe controlled by the flap? I was thinking about having a custom mid pipe built with a branch resonator, then the flap at near the end.

Any benefit of running it the way you mentioned ? In comparison?

I mean my way was cheaper and I was able to make it in welding class with a tig welder. Other then that not really. It kinda drones a bit but it la not unbearable.

Which route did you end up going? An exhaust shop neat me quoted about 200 for a custom mid-pipe with a branch resonator and the flap installed at the the muffler.

I've seen a few threads asking about modifying the stock exhaust.

Here are a few different sounds.

(All revs in Comfort Mode)
1. Stock

2. Resonator Deleted, replaced with a 3" straight pipe

3. Before I welded the straight pipe where the resonator was, I took this video. Basically it's a downpipe and 4 feet of straight pipe.

Tomorrow I will replace the stock muffler with a custom Y Pipe. (I'm keeping the tips and the sensor in place so I don't get codes)

Next week,
INTAKE.

I was about to buy the BMS intake but I'm not a fan of oiled filters and having to clean them.

You won't get codes for removing the tips or resonator lmao

There is on the iPhone app. It's the paper clip in the bottom left hand corner of the reply window.

I already have the muffler delete , I'm thinking about cutting the OEM flap out and slapping it onto the pipe.

Thanks Chicken Joe...I'll try to get pics to show what I'm talking about. The tip has a "flapper" inside with a servo motor. If I remove it. I get codes. So I cut out the muffler and made a custom "Y" pipe into each original "tip" and left the "flapper" in it's place.

However, I believe I'm getting tooooo much air flow as the flapper makes a nasty rattling sound on cold start. Planning to see how the flapper works and find a way to force it open while leaving the servo connected...anyone done this?

on my old car we used a golf t I believe

If you have a JB4, you can force it to stay open.

I don't have jb4 yet. Today I removed the spring/clip. It's open. No rattle. But will cause headaches in 8th gear on interstate. Very loud. Starting to miss the flapper. Lol

Yeah a video would be helpful. I'm just debating if it's worth the labor I have to pay to have it welded on. Thanks
