That's what they're banking on. Manufacturers don't incentivize products that are selling well. The fact that they have this so soon after release makes it sound like orders are way below expectations.

that caught my eye. Certainly brings it almost inline with the 335i. Some options don't exist on the hybrid though, like Active Cruise Control (a must-have for me after using it on a volvo). Booo.

The $3500 eco credit is a ruse. The bottom line price on a lease is no different than it was since the model came out. Reason being: the residual dropped by 4%. If you do the math, the monthly lease payment comes out to exactly the same with the $3500 eco credit.

In fact, there was no change (if you are leasing).

you sure about that? on a 50,000 car each residual point is about 12 dollars a month, while each 1,000 is about 28 dollars a month.

Just Ordered Mine!

I am new to the forum, just ordered an Activehybrid 3 Sport Line, Jet black with HK and the wood interior... My lease worked out to like $20 more than on a slightly more optioned 328i, and with all the extra standards like hid etc it seemed like a pretty clear choice overall. Plus, it just feels stupid fast with all that torque in sport+ mode! It is seriously fun, I had a young sales guy on my test drive who let me really get on it on the freeway. To top it off, I drove it in eco mode on a regular street for about 2 miles as a pure ev with the engine totally off, the rpm's at zero!

I am debating my self, would you mind if you might have info on invoice and what are you paying? How much is your configuration? And selling price, residual for 36 mo, for 10k miles and money factor?
Much appreciate.

Which dealership in the Bay Area has an ActiveHybrid 3 in? I'm assuming you did the test drive in one?

I configured a fairly loaded AH3, vs the same optioned 335i. The premium was ~$6500, but you do appear to get lane departure warning and speed limit camera as a $0 add-on, when you opt for one of the tech packages.

If BMW NA did something crazy and offered $7500 credit/rebate for an end of year special, I might just have to consider it, vs. a 335i M-sport.

Yes, it was awesome...

BMW in Mountain View has a metallic black luxury line, tan leather with tech package premium package driver assist and hk and some other stuff... total $60k after options

BMW on Stevens Creek in San Jose has a metallic silver sport line, black leather/red piping & stitching sport seats, tech package, premium package driver assist and hk, etc... also $60k

From what I read (actually it was in your previous post) there were just 50 of these for North America in the first production run so I guess we get a good share of those in the Bay Area, although the dealerships do not know much about them, I was teaching them about the car... seriously.

I got a quote on one of these and the lease was $850.

The lease on my jet black, sport line with hk is going to be $450.

Apparently they do not count package $ towards residual? (I am guessing?)

I will post some pics I took

sorry for the huge pics... drive one if you get a chance, the combo of hp and torque in sport and sport+ is amazing, i just sold my audi a6 4.2l which felt soo slow compared to the activehybrid 3... not to mention the incredible coasting and straight ev options in ecomode... seems like the best of both worlds to me... plus i will use about half the gas so thats another $150 a month!

I guess you got ZERO options on it, but wow that's a really sweet payment. My AH3 build came to $725 + tax / month. Of course, I had just about every option on it and the MSRP is $65K. Also, I wouldn't be doing ED, nor the MSDs.

Whoever buys these has to debadge the C-pillar. That is horrible.

ordered Active HYBRID 3 with European Delivery

Almost "zero" - I had two options:
- heated front seats ($500)
- streamline wheels (I really like those, and this is a "no cost" option)

I think in many cases manufacturers make their money on options, which I commonly don't use. To me, for example, the quality/appearance/practicality of "regular" leather for the seats is inferior to that of the "bmw leatherette". The "bmw individual trim" is a different story, but it is not available for the 3 series. The "luxury feel" of many "standard" models is quite reasonable. And, in any way, I was buying bmw for its performance. I also use google maps and internet streaming radio through a smartphone (thus no need for navigation and ultra-high quality speakers). For the last one, "standard bmw" unfortunately does not allow streaming radio through usb, which is a shame (my older acura does). I think they want to push customers to go with quite unreasonably expensive options... Grrrr.... Yet, the aux phone jack input gives acceptable audio quality to play internet radios (at least I can live with it).

So yes, you are right. My goal was to get the performance I want for as low as possible total payment within 36 months. But I also understand people who buy options, if they enjoy using them. Similar to you, I really like Active 3! I am quite excited about my trip to Europe and the opportunity to start driving the car in a few months

I'd have bought the hybrid if it was built around the N26 and not the N55. As it is, it's a minimal fuel economy improvement for a bunch of money. It could have been a great car for gas mileage while not costing an arm and a leg -- they whiffed on that opportunity though.

I think they're trying to position the AH3 as a very top-end model, with features and performance. If they would have put a 4cyl in it, it would be in a very in-between price point and position. By using the N55, they can add a few additional features and consider it a "premium" over a regular 335i. In other words, you get a lot more, for just a $2500 increase over a 335i.
