I have the "old" PPK and dynoed (on a Dynojet) at 304 WHP and 308 lb-ft at the wheels. Happy w/my hp #s, but weird that my torque is do close to my hp. It seems even stock N55s have a greater difference between hp and torque. Could my "low" torque readings be an error in the operator of how my car was dynoed (wrong gear, didn't floor it, etc, etc)?
It's because all the PPKs are the same, regardless of year and DME. All they did was revise the conservative numbers of the old PPK to a more realistic number. It doesn't benefit M Performance to be conservative with their gains since they're trying to sell BMW owners on the PPK.

Your dyno shows that the HP numbers were probably underestimated at 20 and closer to the 35 they're claiming in the new press release. I just love how awesome and efficient the BMW drivetrain is.

The varying costs of the PPK across the different model years are most likely attributed to BMW / M Performance division having to recoup for the extra R&D spent adapting the PPK to the changing DME.

That would be great to lay this argument to rest. I'm pretty confident that my statements in the previous post will hold true.

Anyone in Northern NJ with the old PPK and MPE? @shivaswrath? Maybe we could do a dyno throw-down out East too...

Starting to agree with Presario on this, until there's an actual dyno done with the MY14 MPPK, probably safe to assume they're all reasonably similar with similar gains. While their internal bulletin (see my previous post in this thread) suggests a shade more power in the newer version, the performance improvement is the same.

There maybe some incremental improvements with the new DME to justify the additional cost, but gains are probably similar to the recent dynos listed here.

In any case, absolute numbers provide a good proxy of the power and potential of our motors, but real world feel, throttle response improvements, driving experience and 'emotional sounds' provided by the MPPK (or any other tune) have much more meaning than numbers - my 2 cents.

Mike, drive down to EAS for the dyno day on the 22nd! We would then have a '14 with PPK and MPE, a '13 with PPK and MPE, and a '13 with JB4 and MPE! Haha, make a trip out of it and visit family!

Lol! If the drive was within 2-3 hrs, I'd be there for sure.

My MPPK should arrive tomorrow or Monday, getting it installed on 2/10. Ordered it from El Cajon BMW via eBay for $1,250 plus tax. It was the best deal I could find.

I have the 6MT and MPE was port-installed, but my car is still pretty new with only 1600 miles on it. Hoping to put some more time and miles into it before now and 2/10 to get a better sense of stock vs. MPPK via by butt-dyno. :-)

You say $1250 for the PPK - who's going to install it? How much do you expect install to be?

Thanks.

I put this in another thread. But as of now, I'm taking it to Peter Pan BMW up here in San Mateo, Nor. Cal. for $260. Seems like a 'fair' quote, since I didn't purchase from them, but I'll ask my SA to see if he can knock it down a bit. He said the install would take 1.5 to 3 hrs.

My second quote came from San Jose - Steven Creek BMW, which is like 10 mins. from house, at $500, and he said they'd need to keep the car overnight...riiiiight...

Wow. BMW near me agreed to do my install for $125.

Yeah - Overall cost of living is probably lower on Alabama vs. the Bay. Seems like $260 isn't a bad deal...but $500!

I have a 2013 335i (build date of 9/2012). These are the part numbers according to realoem and tischer. Apparently F30 with prod dates =< 11/2012 require a new DME.

I guess I could save a few hundred dollars ordering them online and trying to find a dealer to install.. or just pay my dealer the $1,600 and not have to worry about them giving me grief.

I called them about this deal and the parts guy I spoke with said that it's for the software only. Have you already received it, and if so did it include the engine cover, intake, and M plate?

Yes. Received the box yesterday and it included the complete kit - red envelope, M Performance Engine cover, decal, intake housing and stickers.

Sweet. Just placed my order as well. Hopefully it'll arrive this upcoming week so I can get it installed next Monday (2/17)!

Yes. My appointment is next week, Monday 2/10. Will post a few pics and review. I have about 1900 miles on the car now and am trying to get in a few more miles to break in further and get a better sense of pre and post MPPK.

Looking forward to the review. If you have an auto, let's start an MPPK 8AT thread since most of the reviews are for 6MT owners.

My MPPK came in today, and it was complete as advertised on eBay - brand new in box. El Cajon's eBay deal is definitely the best price available right now. I called two other local dealerships and they could not beat the deal. Another online retailer actually told me to take advantage of the $1250 deal while it lasts because it's near cost. Very happy with it.

Now I need to decide whether or not to do the M Performance exhaust with the MPPK install and get it installed for free potentially, or wait and do the Borla.

Very cool!

Depends on how loud you want it. I chose the MPE as I didn't want to loud of an exhaust, but wanted a bit more depth/growl. Don't think there's much of a power gain between the two.

Unfortunately I have a 6MT, but there seems to be plenty of Sport Auto folks with MPPKs.

HAHAHAHA I just spoke with BMW here in Dubai - for PPK they quoted me $3000!!!!!!!!

OMG heart attack. Idiots here they really are. I am considering selling my f30 335i and getting a 2010 M3

Yeah I've got an 8AT and the MPPK. I had it installed at the VPC in Baltimore before taking delivery of it this past Friday.

I drove it up to NYC from DC for work for the week but was babying it since it was brand new.

I did hit the gas a little hard on the FDR and she moves, especially in the mid-range. Haven't tried Sport and Sport+ modes yet and I still haven't gone over 3700 RPM's roughly. It'll be a while but once the car is broken in and I've had some valuable wheel time, I'll try to put up my $0.02.

I will say this, my friend has a 2013 550i M-Sport and I've driven that. I remember thinking how hard the car pulled with the turbo V8...my F30 feels like it pulls just as hard...if not harder. Nothing scientific behind that statement though, unless you want to count ass dyno testimony as scientific.
