debadging

can someone confirm if debadgiing is easy with the 335? i know with the lexus there are holes behind the emblems just asking if i will run into that issue with this car?

so I'm thinking of taking off X drive, 335ix....and leaving the bmw in the middle....

That will be my first mod. e90 did not have holes in the body, I am assuming f30 will be the same. Just warm it up with a hair dryer, and slide some floss underneath it to get it loose.

Out of interest, why de-badge now and not de-badge when ordering (perhaps you didn't have the car from new?)

I don't know about Canada, but in the US, factory debadge is not an option.

the "delete model lettering" option code is S320A in Canada. I ordered my 335 MSport xDrive with this option. there are no holes.

On a new car you don't even need floss or heat. They'll just peal right off.

Option 320 in the US. Been discussed on the forum a couple times but it seems some CAs don't know about it or dont care to. But some on here, including myself have ordered US spec car with that option.

If it does, just rub it with your thumb. It'll peel right up/off without issue. Only do this when it's clean though so you don't rub the dirt that could be around the badge(s) into the paint.

Double sided tape eating into clear coat

Hi.

On the issue of rebadging.... My salesman offered to have my new 328i debadged for me but then called me and said I shouldn't do it. Said their detail guy told him BMW is using a new double sided tape on the F30's that etches into the clear coat, leaving an impression that can not be buffed out. Anyone else heard anything about this? I really wanted to remove everything except the rounded but now I'm paranoid.

I'd say that's a bunch of B.S. They just didn't feel like doing it.

Not true, plenty of people on the forums have debadged without any instances of clear coat damage.

Debadged mine... No holes, no etching... Thats a bunch of BS... Use floss (it doesnt just peel up)... It will leave a bit of stickyness behind... peel up what u can with ur finger and then use a solvent to remove the rest... After mine was clean I washed the area well and waxed just to be sure it didnt leave a mark...

Huh, interesting! You're in Belgium? Are any of the people getting option 320 residents of the US, or are they in Europe getting US spec cars? I ask because I just double-checked the official US ordering guide from BMW and it doesn't list an option 320 at all...

And back on the original topic, when I removed my 328i badge there's zero evidence on the paint of it every being there. I used dental floss to remove the badge initially, then some orange goo-gone stuff to remove the remaining adhesive.

I'd have to go back to previous threads to see where in the US others are from but if you do a factory order on a US Spec car and your CA lists option 320 you'll get er dun. My CA (mil/diplomat specialist for Belgium) researched it and added to my order no problem. I think it's just a matter of the CA knowing...
