If you're worried about snow, i 100% recommend the DWS as well.

The main thing is to choose an all-season that has a section with larger blocks to mimic a snow tire. They performed suprisingly well in my experience, but I've never had a dedicated set of winter tires personally. I did have another car with a tire size that the DWS didn't come in, so I tried Sumitomo HTR A/S P02 an it performed similarly in snow.

Conti DWS 06 in summer and Nokian Hakkepelitas in winter on both the 440xi and 550xi. Michi Pilot 4S on the Z4 since it's a nice day only car.

I'm putting Conti DW6 for summer and Pirelli Sottozero for winter. I'm not taking a risk, I'm putting RFT's for winter.

Pirelli Cinturato Strada Sport All seasons.

They did fine in the snow and freezing temps, hope they run well in the summer.

As far as brands go, I have had the best luck with Bridgestone, Michelin and Continental. but you still have to choose the right model to be happy.

Stayed with the stock 225-45-18’s. Can’t imagine a better performing tire than the Michelin PS A/S 3+ in the all season category.

I am running stock Conti RFT ... nothing special. If I am purchasing tires, I almost always go Michelin

I wish I could safely run MPSS here in Toronto, but with our questionable weather patterns, I think I'm best suited to stay away from true performance tires on the F30 that I drive daily.

I also used to swear by Blizzaks for winters, however I found the tires to wear out very quickly. That is the main reason I switched over to Michelin X-Ice and so far I've noticed nearly-identical quality between these and the the Blizzak WS series.

The tires should be fine in that temp. It's a wonderful tire for the price! Great wet and dry traction and it's a million times more comfortable than the OEM RFTs. I felt very confident in the last big rain and was actually surprised how well composed it was. When others were crawling on the freeway I was able to drive as normal. A lot of people say the Indy 500 is just a rebranded Bridgestone RE003. They have the same thread pattern and Bridgestone is a mother company of Firestone.

Even Tirerack had great things to say about the Indy 500 if you wanted a comparison of other tires in the same category. Was able to snag 4 tires, 2 225/40/19 2 245/35/19, for about $550-600 on Tirerack.

If you are commuting daily, you are not going to do well with all-season tires on a RWD car. If your job allows you to work from home when it snows (and you don't need to go anywhere else), or you have access to another car, then you could probably manage. Otherwise, I would strongly recommend a set of winter tires in addition to all-seasons/summer tires during non-winter months.

Garage List
I have used Michelin summer and winter tires on many different vehicles and really like them, never had an issue and they wear very evenly and don't get noisy as they get old like some tires do.
I have never used there all season tires though

It depends on how much snow you get and how hilly the commute. I live in SE Michigan and have never found I require winter rubber. I drive 25,000 miles/year. I had 3 different 328’s with RWD from 2007 to 2016.

Sure winter tires would have been the best solution but all seasons worked fine. Our terrain is pretty flat.

firehawk indy 500 for around 7k miles now.
ive been driving on them during winter but not on snow.
great traction once tires warm up.
poor traction on snow obviously.

only thing is that i have to run them at around 40 psi 43 psi for them not to feel floaty and look like they need some air
