Performance Exhaust ($1700) vs MPPSK ($2900)

For $1700, there is an option to add the "Performance Exhaust" on a 2017 440i.

How is that different from the $2900 MPPSK?

MPPSK stands for M Performance Power and Sound Kit which would give you the M performance exhaust along with the tune (+35 hp/+39 lb ft).

The performance exhaust is different from the one that comes with the MPPSK. You can't add the tune component later.

BMW isn't producing 2017 4 series any more. I got my 2018 440i last June with MPPSK port installed. While it may be cheaper to go with an aftermarket exhaust and tune, I lease my cars and didn't want to do anything that might cause warranty issues.

Well, the invoice should tell you what you're getting. And the MPE is a part of the MPPSK package. So as long as he gets that he also gets the MPE. It pops and burbles like a mother.

MPE exhaust and the one that comes with the MPPSK are different. Don't spread false information

Hm. Interesting. I stand corrected then. But I wonder how it's different. I guess it makes it an incentive to actually get the MPPSK vs just the exhaust.

One of the valves in my MPPSK was broken on delivery, which caused a really loud rattle that I thought was normal. (See threads on exhaust rattle. http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1478263)

The dealer thought it was too loud, so they tore the exhaust apart and found that one of the valves was just flapping, instead of working with the servo motor, so they ordered a replacement. (It was the first 440i with MPPSK they had delivered.)

They mistakenly ordered the M performance exhaust and found it was the wrong part, so it took another week to get the right system from Germany.

The MPPSK appears to be cat back.

More details here.

It was probably an honest mistake since that's how the 335 was. No need to be a douche...
