Is there going to be an issue with the dealership if I go in with a modified FA?

Thanks for all of your help on these boards.

I have no idea what they do for 1200 Mile Service, but I doubt Programming vehicle is part of it, so you should not have to worry about it.

That said, if an when Dealer programs a car, ISTA/P reads FA and flashes and encodes the ECU's accordingly. Thus, FA (Options and Build Date) must be proper for any and all hardware installed to car.

If you have retrofitted AHL, and AHL was a valid factory option for your car, and FA is proper for AHL, programming should be no issue. But say for example you retrofit Xenon only, without Adaptive function, and Xenon only was not offered for your build (only AHL was offered), then ISTA/P is not going to like it. In case like that, original hardware must be put back in car for successful dealer programming.

Thanks Shawn.

I just removed 5AP and 8S4 from the VO, coded the proper ECUs and FDL coded both LHMs.

So in your case, I would just add both codes back to FA, and write FA to car.

Replaced Battery need coding?

I've been hearing/reading that everytime a BMW ride replaced it's battery, it need to be "coded" - the coding in this case seems to vary from a setting change to adaptation.

I just have my factory battery replaced with a 95ah (factory were rated at 90ah, most after-market batt are all 80 or 95ah) - is this something we can code ourself? The shop that replace my battery says nothing need to be coded as "F-series" are smart

E-word seems to allow coding the battery with 70, 80 or 90ah AGM battery

@Shawnsheridan - mind sharing Tools32 installer? read that it could be used to reset the battery, but the "Ediabas" folder I have doesn't seems to be working - it kinda get left behind from prior installation, never actually installed the program on it's own

You need to both a) set the new battery type (only if it has changed rating) using either correct E-Word or changing FDL Code KLASSE_BATTERIE and then Code CAS, FEM_BODY, or BDC_BODY, and b) reset battery history (register battery) using ISTA/D or Tool32. For F=Series car, I think it is g_motor.grp -> steuern_batterietausch_registrieren.

Thanks for this. I'll try it as I've found that quite a number of the functions I want to change are affected like this

(this note is what i got from this forum)

First Step edit SALAPA
-Read FA, Save as a FA, then click Edit Button,
-Add SALAPA to followings (if you don't have in your FA) : 614, 615, 6AB, and 6AL 6NR
-Then Calculate FP, if no error, save it

Second Step VO code new SALAPA elements to the car
-Load the saved FA file, then activated it.
-VO code (the Media and) HU_NBT
(Connect =>) Load FA => Activate FA => Read SVT => Right-Click on ECU (eg: HU_NBT) => Select CODE.
-Reset your CIC unit by pressing the mute button for 20-25 seconds.
-Wait 1-2 minutes after the CIC Unit starts, Check BMW Live and Internet is there,
-If Yes, everything is OK, follow the next step.

Third Step Create a FA file with FAKE VIN number
-Write fake VIN to NBT
You need to write fake VIN to NBT
Expert Mode => FSC Extended module => WriteDataByIdentifierVIN,

Diagnostis Address (Hex) > 0x63
Base Var > HU_nbt
All other fields are blank.
Add WriteDataByIdentifierVIN to the right window
Hit Start
The window for manual VIN input will appear.
Input the fake LONG VIN with capital letters.

Find a VIN number which has 614 and 615 in factory. www.bmwvin.com will help you to decode your fake VIN.
Mine is WBA3B1101DF385788

-Reboot NBT

-Check VIN
You can check all of FSCs you have via E-SYS > Connect > Comfort mode > FSC > Check FSC Status ( to check if fake vin already put to hu_nbt)

Fourth Step Update Connected Drive
-update connected drive services via BT data
- check internet and BMWonline items are appeared under connected drive (it may take a few minutes)
- write back original VIN (just like the third step)
- reboot NBT
- check VIN is original and FSCs are accepted
- do not update connected drive services ever
Hello. Im trying to activate bmw live. After first step at connected drive only appears BMW live in grey. I added 614, 615, 6AB, 6AL and 6NR.
When I press start icon in second step trying to write a fake VIN (WBAFV31030DZ17872) there is an error:

SWT diagnosis for ECU "basevariant=HU_nbt diagaddress=63 failled [CO57]
OpenECUconnection for link HU_nbt_63_Ethernet Failed with error MCD error severity: 20651, error code:49184, descrition: object with na me not found, Vendr code:3, Vendor description: provied name HU_nbt_63_ETHERNET doesnt map on an item.

I came from a HU_entry to a retrofit NBT with emulator, on a f20.

Any help will be welcome
Thanks!

So this is literally the greatest thread I've read, almost 3 years of coding information in one place!
I'm new to it all, and recently purchased a 2013 MY14 328i M-Sport.

shawnsheridan you are a deadset legend and I'd really appreciate if you could send the E-Sys files and all the stuff I need to audionick@gmail.com

I have a cable on its way.
Cheers

Apologize for bringing up this old post!
Anyone managed to activate this function on F30? Singapore is a hot climate country & the air condition is set to Europe standard which totally not cold enough in our country. Appreciate if any kind soul could give me a direction. Did tried to use google translate on INKA and seriously got no clue about it.
Lastly, I would like to thank Shawn for keeping this post alive

@shawnsheridan, I am currently on E-sys Version 3.26.1 and PSdZData_Lite Ver. 54.1. Is this the most current?, if not, can you send me the link? Thanks again.

Shawn can you send me this new Psdzdata?

Does anyone know the codes for a 428 convertible F33? Configure something different at the opening of the ceiling?

I'm in the process of rebuilding my laptop and am upgrading all the E-sys bits for a MY2015 F30. Shawn, would you mind sending me the latest links?

One more question: I found this guidance from you in another thread. For an F30 is this still correct for current pszdata and e-sys?

"What is E-Sys Launcher Car Series set to? It should be as follows: E-Sys Launcher Car Series = F30 E-Sys -- Connection Target = F20"

Thanks!
