BMW ED - when financing effective date?

When ordering through ED and financing with BMW FS, what is the effective date of the loan? Is it when car is delivered in Munich?

Also, I'll probably be selling my old car by myself, but do dealers typically negotiate the price of a trade-in car at the time of order of the new car and allow to trade it in when the BMW is delivered in US?

Thanks for any help, I'm trying to plan my Euro trip a year in advance to coincide with some family events in Europe. I remember that Irv Robinson from Motorwerks, Barrington IL used to be one of the supporting sponsors here, I wonder if he's still around (the dealer is 10 minutes from where I live).

Our ED is 8/27. We are doing our finance paperwork tomorrow 8/18 with the dealership.

IMHO sell the car yourself. It makes the negotiation for your new car less complicated. The major advantage to trading in at the dealer is you won't pay tax on the trade-in value of your car.

YMMV

Not entirely sure about financing as I leased. However for me the first lease payment came out 48 hours before I took delivery in Munich and I had to keep making lease payments while the car was in transit from Europe. I assume financing would be similar.

Hope this helps, but the best thing would probably be to ask your SA or call BMW directly and ask them.
