Great and thanks. So when you say external you are referring to the acuator under the body of the car rather than say where the spare wheel might go? Is there much wiring needed as i dont really want panels being removed if it can be helped......they just never go back on properly.

Ditto - would like to avoid too many holes being drilled and panels removed ideally.

Can you also confirm if it is wired into the iDrive system so you can change the settings on there for the different sounds?

Thanks!

The actuator is situated under the body next to the exhaust tailpipes. I have had my back box removed so may have had more room to play with than you guys. I believe the hole they used for the wiring already existed. The panels that are removed have been put back exactly the same, you can't even tell they have been removed. I have attached the fitting guide for you guys to have a look at.

In regards to the iDrive, no it is not wired into there. It is wired into the the cruise control switch, this allows you to cycle through all 6 programmed sounds. And like I said before you can even program your own sound. You can also turn it off from there.

You got a video of how you change it? I presume you have to do a button combination to get to it otherwise I'd be changing it when I set cruise control lol

I will make a video later on today. To change the sound you just hold the cruise control speed switch up or down. This only works when cruise control is not active and does not interfere with the cruise control.

Looks a lovey mod and what concerns me after looking at the work involved is if there are going to be rattles and squeaks as a result of all the panels and part having to be touched!

Fitted the kufatec to my f30 35d today. it is a bit fiddley and took half a day but all seems well. id recommend letting ritcher themselves fit it in MK.

the notes arnet far off what you hear on the youtube videos but they all sound great and have a purpose. there is slight extra vibration in the car so I may relocated the sound unit yet.

all in all happy. havent had a drive yet will do later on. oh and it can get real loud if you want it too!! oops

this device has transformed the car for me, the fact that you can plug it in and customise the sounds is great as I have been messing with today. I programmed it to work with the driving modes, so there is now a different exhaust note /volume/ sound for each driving mode through ecopro to sport+

the customizability is great news for my neighbours as, if allowed, it will get loud. and I mean real loud so I prommed it to be fairly quiet in comfort and ecopoo

a friend had a little blast while I had a listen. it roars and to top it off the turbos sucking in air just gives the whole effect.

really happy with the mod. fake? who cares. a sports exhaust on a petrol which ultimately achieves the same goal can be more costly aswell really

I spoke to BMW head office today and they confirmed that the M sport exhaust sound acuator for the 335dx is not available as the brackets to hold it do not fit apparently. They could not explain why the option still appears on the m sport list of options mind.
Hi mate, sounds like you have been misinformed. BMW do the active m performance exhaust for the 335d xdrive. My local dealer has to email my vin no. to BMW Germany. They have confirmed part numbers for exhaust and 2x tail pipes, my car is a LCI 2016 model. I will list these numbers tomorrow as they are in my office diary.
Cost from my local dealer is £1980 fitted for the full kit. I need to get alternative quotes. Willing to pay around £1500. Any members quoted near this figure?
