Cobb Tuning

So I reached out to Cobb for information on the accessport v2 for the N55. This was the response I received

"Hello,

Unfortunately, this will not fit and f30, sorry for the bad news. We currently have no plans to provide support for newer BMW models.

Kyle@COBB"

Pretty disappointing, I don't understand why Cobb wouldn't develop support for F30's as an alternative to Dinan or MPPK.

Because barely anyone has been able to flash the ECU. Even Dinan.

True, took dinan 2 1/2 years I believe. This type if stuff makes me reconsider future bmw purchases since mods will be limited.

I think dinan is using a piggy back for the f30.

Yes, because of the aforementioned difficulty with the ECU code encryption, they have what is now called the D-Tronics piggyback. What distinguishes it from the others is that it also covers the chassis and transmission programming as well, plus it is installed at BMW dealers and has its own parallel warranty.

So far, nobody has reported their experience with D-Tronics yet. Hoping they will so the rest of us can decide if the extra price is worth it (that warranty is a big part of their pricing).

Can you link me to the information on the D-Tronics covering tranny programming...

So far no ECU Flash for the F30
Even Dinan offer a piggy now.
Your best choice would be a JB4 and couple years down the road if the ECU gets flashed you get that.

Is JB4 worth it if I already have the MPPK and don't plan on a downpipe? Appears most of those with the largest gains have a lot of mods and run e85

If you don't plan running mixes and just 93octane stay with mppk.

Designed for the Future

The DINANTRONICS™ Performance Tuner was engineered with future expansion of functionality in mind. Boasting the most powerful processing power on the market the DINANTRONICS™ Performance Tuner can handle more functions and processes than any of its contemporaries. To that end the Dinan performance tuner is capable of interfacing with the CAN and FlexRay communication systems which allow for controlling powertrain functions, among others. This means that when new functions are developed there will be no need for a new box, just a short software update at your local Dinan dealer.

I had read somewhere that they include transmission/chassis updates (similar to MPPK), although the above reference doesn't confirm or deny that assumption.

LOL. I hope anyone reading this doesn't get their hopes up. Any new modification for every car is always being released "within the next month", per a "reliable source" on every forum.

I'll bump this thread 30 days from now so you can check with your reliable source what the adjusted ETA is.

It's even worse when you consider the results are well shy of the BMS Stage 1 plug-n-play tuner for only $379. Check the last few pages of the thread in the 2 Series forum for some comedy.

Just spoke to my tuner outside of Boston, who just got the software to do ECU Flash tuning for all f30's, m3's and m4's, just needs to be trained on it.
I am digging my JB4 but will welcome a real flash tune over inconsistent power.
