To the haters... Bmw's piece of cr@p are the 1 series and 6 series. They are way more disgusting and impractical than this.

Saw this comment and had to defend the 1-series:

The e82 1 series is the only car bmw makes to satisfy classic 3-series enthusiasts. They realized that the 3-series is getting bigger and fatter (it is now the size of the older 5 series!) and they needed something to get back to their roots. Hence, the 1 was born, which is in between the size of an e30 and e36 3-series. Almost perfection if you ask me, just needs a little more weight loss and better steering feel.

The way I see it, the 3-series sedan and wagon are equally visually appealing. They are basically the same design, which is a good thing. They are just for people with different needs. As for the gt, I'll just pretend it doesn't exist.

For those that don't like the 3-series wagon because it is too cramped, that's what the 5-series wagon or x3 are for. BMW is just diluting sales for its own cars with these gran turismo versions IMO.

Matter of taste. I like the aggressive face of the F30 (many don't, but I think its brilliant). I don't like the smiling beluga face of the GT. The front scoops are overdone.

As long as the GT doesn't "replace" the wagon, I guess there is nothing to complain about.

X3 doesn't have any noticeable extra space other than headroom. F11 is not sold in US.

1st choice would be this.

Since no such car exists stateside, the GT looks like the only viable option short of an engine/tranny swap on the 328i/xi. I'd rather use the $10k that such a conversion would cost and put it towards a GT + mods. I also think that this is an ideal car for MN winters and dreaded potholes...

Never thought I'd hear myself say this, but the GT did not come in last; it came in second for me. First was the Touring and last the sedan. The sedan's posterior looks a bit odd from straight on. From the side the sedan looks better than the GT in my view, but overall the sedan disappointed. I think the ideal car would be the Touring with the engine from the Euro M550D.

I just went out and "road shopped" the 3 series. In person, the sedan strikes me as an Accord and the 1 series a Civic. I am allergic to Tourings. I like the GT from photos because it's higher and taller and longer than the other little models. Thanks for asking.

I'm starting to like this GT more and the extra room would be a benefit for the backseat passengers. Currently my sedan has plenty of room for my 2 kids that are not in car seats however once I add my 3rd kid it becomes tight. The GT appears to be better but it still has that hump in the middle seat so I'm not sure how good of a benefit it will be over to sedan or touring in that aspect.

Is the rear middle seat any larger or is it just the extra legroom that makes a difference? Hard to tell from the photos.

TY for posting the actual dimensions, Now I can actually compare the numbers to my MkIV.

After staring at the just the lines of the car, one wish becomes evident. If only the wheel well in the rear were slightly larger in diameter, a staggered setup would look awesome. May have to try my hands at a pshop
