Perhaps this has been already mentioned, but I just noticed an interesting behavior with the steering wheel paddle shifters. If the transmission stalk is in the 'normal' (non sport) position and I change gears using the paddle shifters during normal driving, it goes back into 'automatic' mode after about 5 seconds from the last shift.

However, if I'm using them to downshift for engine breaking while going down a long downhill, the transmission does NOT go back into 'automatic' mode. In other words, it holds that gear for the entire length of the downhill. Nice! I suspect the computer looks at whether you are on the accelerator or not. If you don't touch the accelerator (as you wouldn't on a long downhill with engine breaking), then it holds that gear.

Very thoughtful. And convenient!

First time I noticed on comfort mode. If you punch the pedal the car knows you are something doing rush things. It will hold the rpm up to redline then it will shift. So no need sometimes in sport mode.

Old feature but quite useful. Light switch on overhead console. Press and hold to turn off manually.

Engine Stop (that generally annoying, but easily defeated “feature” that turns the engine off when at a light) triggers an engine restart if the driver’s door is opened while the driver’s seatbelt is fastened. (If the seatbelt is unfastened and the driver’s door is opened the car goes to “Off.”)

Any guesses as to the rationale for start-engine-when-door-opens-whilst-seatbelt-on logic?

If I take seatbelt off, open the door and let out clutch the motor stays on.

If you want to delete all the presets from the memory keys 1-8, simply press and hold key 1 and 8 together for 5 seconds. Your iDrive will now ask for confirmation to reset all memory keys.

All Glass Open

In a 3-series, I think beginning with the E36, you could open and close all glass (windows + "moon" roof) with the remote. For the life of me I don't understand the F30:

With Comfort Access (CA) you can close all glass with a single digit on the door handle; no matter what you do to the door handle, no glass can be opened.

With the fob you can open all glass by holding down the unlock button; no matter what you do with the fob no glass can be closed.

Is this some Teutonic humor?

In our cars (across Europe), closing the windows+sunroof when lock button on fob is kept pressed for a couple of seconds is possible. US cars are not coded by default as such due to regulations perhaps.

I love this. I have a dash cam and it was nice to be able to route the plug to it so it's not always visible in the center charging port. It's in the manual

Something I like. If you use talk to text on the iphone or take a phone call, it pauses Sirius until you are off the phone or done with the dictation.

Didn't even notice a hole where it's suppose to go. Just the vents for blowing air out.

and $10 is cheap to add.

Although I don't use it much but I like the cruise control in this car, it mark on the main scale the desired speed and change color based on if it's on or off, the most elegant cruise control I ever seen.

I just found this out the hard way. I was washing my windshield with a squeegee at the gas station and kept trying to pull up on the windshield wiper arm. After 3 attempts, I realized it was rubbing against the inside edge of my hood and scraped some of the body paint off. Luckily it is not visible. But this is total CRAP design!
