Yeah sometimes I have to carry my dog across the hot asphalt to the car and it's nice to hit the button once and all four doors pop at once.

Absolutely, also it helps while opening the driver door when you have passenger waiting to get in.

Yep, I set mine to open all doors, but for my wife's profile, it only opens the driver door. It's really nice to be able to configure it this way by profile.

If you have a severe rattle (metal on metal) noise at low revs and pulling away from a stop, your exhaust valve has probably come loose.

Very cool Feature. I just learned yesterday reading a technical document.

Another one similar to that. If auto-start-stop function has switched of the engine (your foot is on the brake pedal). Increase the brake pedal pressure quite a bit and release the pressure to normal stop level, the engine will start (While car is still stopped).
This way you can prepare for faster taking off from a stop when you feel it's necessary. (No waiting second after releasing the brake, as the engine is already running)

Moving the auto shifter to MS also disables ASS from engaging. Once the car has stopped moving, you can move it back to Drive.

Switching to MS also forces an early restart when you are stopped with the engine off for when you are anticipating a light change. You can return to Drive right after the restart.

It's a lot easier than trying to modulate the brake force just right.

that's pretty cool...i'm gonna see if it works w/ an iPod as well.

I definitely don't use the voice command feature enough. barely use it at all...

You can also 'nudge' the steering wheel and the engine will restart. In MT anyway; presume the same for AT

If you have navigation, it will tell you when there is an accident ahead.

Car running + in gear + foot on brake + unfasten driver's seat belt + open door = Car puts itself into Park while audibly and visually scolding you.

Has anyone been able to stream music with just the base model & no tech/nav package? Some apps (eg.google maps ap) seem to be able to make iDrive think it's playing a phone call when the ap talks so Im guessing it should be possible to do it without using the aux input which is really badly placed underneath the hand rest! I cant believe streaming blue for music isnt standard - or am i too old to figure it out?

In a completely cold/unpowered car:
You can turn ON iDrive screen including audio (without remote control in car) by pressing the volume on/off rotary selector.

Discovered by my 22month old daughter that loves to push buttons in daddy's car.

Eh, that would mean the car has to be unlocked. Ideal for people who have homes+garage their cars.

With comfort access you can open the trunk by swinging you foot under the middle of the bumper. Basically you kick it in the rear and the trunk opens. I only thought the new Ford Escape had that.

Trip Reset button and start button

I saw this in an X5 posting engine off hold down trip reset and push the start button with foot off the brake. what does this command do and how do you unlock it? I tried and it gets you to a scrolling screen in your trip window and has Reset/Unlock/Test and one other command I can not remember. Just curious what this does when unlocked. its a numeric value with 2 digits for the unlock password. anyone know?
