I just spent a whole work day reading this thread from start until this point. I haven't even ordered my F31 yet but I am about to in a week or so. Before reading this thread I read the owner's manual PDF posted by someone on another thread. I can happily say that I learned at least 4 things- 3 of which are actually not in the owner's manual. The 4th thing I learned is that about 333 - 500 of the posts here are repeats. Sometimes a feature has been mentioned 40 or 50 times. But that's human nature and I'm not complaining. It is still one of the best threads on this entire forum, and I enjoyed reading it. Also I am paid an hourly rate of $75/hr so I made a lot of money reading this thread- more than enough to pay for the auto highbeam feature I wasn't going to get so maybe now I'll buy it.
By next April hopefully I'll find something out on my car that hasn't been posted yet. Thanks all! |

The auto-full beam is one of the best features though IMO. I'd go so far as to say that it's one of the most important safety features - being able to see dark patches of roads that aren't completely empty - motorways that only have a few cars on, for example - is invaluable. Still, I wish I got paid that much for doing a job where I could get away with reading a forum all day! Last edited by Feanor; 12-05-2013 at 01:15 PM.. |

Found out that adaptive headlights do not function when not set in AUTO headlights mode. I normally set the selector to Parking Lights or ON- headlights and wondered why the projector beams stopped pointing when I pulled into the garage.
That's it!

I learnt something new today... All of this post is in the owners manual!
But I must be a freak, because I think I'm one of the few who bothered to RTFM... |

I, too, read a "little" bit of the manual. |

Don't know if this was brought up already, but you can set your A/C to come on while the car is off at a specific time in vehicle settings. You can set it up to come on when you get out of school/work to cool your car down before you get in.
Also, don't try and open the fuel filler cap while the car is locked. I tried to open it and didn't realize the car was locked. I then unlocked the car and heard a huge clank that scared me a little. The fuel filler cap wouldn't shut until I tried doing it multiple times. And I could be over analyzing things, but I'm pretty sure the cap is crooked now... |

One thing that bugs me- the msport models DON'T come with fog lights. The car looks better without them but it would be really useful for turning. Most BMWs have the fog lights turn on when you turn the steering wheel to illuminate where you're turning.
This would be really helpful for my car since I have tinted windows and can't really see curbs at night. |

What's the point of keeping the mirrors folded while driving?

Oh, a few things I noted. The seatbelts server on the passenger side will only serve it when you start the car if there is someone sitting in the passenger side. You can mute the radio and turn it on again with the steering wheel buttons but you end up with 0 volume. So i just hit the button on the console again. The windows come down just a bit when you open the door, letting in some snow right on you seat when you go try and get your snow duster from inside. It does come up again when you close it though. Must be a coupe thing. And IPhones will not transmit pics of contacts unlike Samsung Galaxies, HTC ones or Blackberries. I have a 4S and now thinking ogetting a Sammy S4. On another note, can you use the voice button to call on similar "Siri" features on other phones? |

External Voice Command
I have a 2014 and I don't know if all F30's have this feature, but if hold your voice button for 5 or 10 sec it will use Siri or the android counterpart.
