First with the F32 and now with the 4 Series Gran Coupe, there seems be this reaction that if something looks good it must be expensive. I'll repeat my point the 4 Series Gran Coupe
should be the F30.

Seriously BMW? Stop with all these different model CAR LINE UPS!!!

Keep the 3 as a four door, and the 4(which makes no sense) as a two door.

STOP MIXING IT UP. That means that just about every model 1,2,4,6 all have grand coupe's? Whats the POINT. Make one grand coupe. They're going overboard with this mode lineup. They're going to make to many models and slowly push away from the quality of each model and then the series will blend together! I really hope this doesn't hurt the great name of BMW and especially their Bmw M line.

/ end rant.

It's very long; if I want something like this I would take the 5 series and not a something that is far less comfortable.

All BMW needed was some subtle Audi design cues.

Glad to see they have finally been realized!

Can't Wait

I can't wait to start seeing these 4's on the street. If they look as good as the picks, I'll have to trade both my rides in for one.

But if you're sticking a standard 6 in this GC, and you need 4 doors, why would you pay as much as a 535iX?

This is absolutely stunning. Good times ahead I think. The F30 will be delivered any day now and in two years time I would have had ample time to convince the better half that a trade is due

You can bet the GC premium will be very similar to the $6500 hybrid premium over a standard 335i.

You'd pay as much ($65k) for a 4GC as a 535ix because they are going to drive and look very different. 535ix might be best suited to 55yo male in Pittsburgh, 4GC might be best suited to a well healed 35yo male in Miami.

BTW, I did pay for performance with the AH3. About 340HP/340lb ft, in fact.

I disagree. We used to have an F10 528i and I could sit in the back seat with room to spare, but I cannot comfortably fit in the back of a 6 GC. Similarly, I fit in my brother's F30's rear seat but there's no way I could fit in the back of a 4 GC.

Most of my friends are 6'+ so a GranCoupe is a no-go for me, as much as I may like them. If I wanted a four door, I would get the regular sedan so I could actually fit four of five of my friends and if not I would just get the regular coupe.

OK, last one. Don't mean to be difficult. So guys with a couple of little kids go for GC, and guys with big fat wives go for the 5? I mean, I'm sure that'll happen, but...lol.

So, please splain why you went with the AH3. My situation was that my lease ran out on the M3, so have to get rid of it. I went with a 2 year on a 335iS, knowing that the new M4 is 2 years out. It puts out 330HP, has the DCT that I've fallen in love with, and is 300 lbs lighter than the AH3. And it was $8k less than your car. So was mileage the determinant?

Something like that. A 5er drives very different that a 3-series, which I'm sure we can extrapolate that it will therefore drive very different than a 4GC. And that difference is going to attract two different customers, even if the prices are exactly the same.

I need 4 doors, second kid showed up last month No doubt the 335is is a nice, quick car.. I almost bought one myself before I bought my E92 M3 last year. But the AH3 (just like a 4GC) feels about 10 years newer than the E9x gen, with cameras, HUD, new Navigation, etc. And ~50% of my time behind the wheel is spend in heavy stop-and-go Dallas traffic. So 35mpg+ was very appealing to me. Not to mention, I got the AH3 for ~$1K more than the 335i I was about to pull the trigger on. Cheap gas + short supply of 335i + Eco-credits means AH3 is very cheap right now....

4 GC

I reluctantly bought an F10 535i earlier this year because my wife and I had our first baby. I came from an E64 6 series but before that I had an E39 and E34 5 series. The F10 has become much larger and heavier than the 5ers I always loved and this car would be a great alternative. I know many will complain that the 3/4 series have gotten bigger, but that is why there is now a 1/2 series.

I will gladly buy a 435is Grand Coupe or M4 Grand Coupe to replace my 535is. I think the new F10 5 series are closer to the old 7 series at this point and that is fitting since the 7 series are even bigger these days. Now, let's just hope the 4 series handle, drive and feel like good old BMW sport sedans and not limousines.

From my subjective assessment, most F30's around here (and on the roads) are spec'd at <$50K USD. BMW will push the 4GC to be a $65K+ car.

In other words, the F30 and F36 will be at different price points, and the GC will not cannibalize any more sales than a similarly priced F10.
That's ridiculous! It's a 3 series with a different shell...

Um, same thing BMW is doing with the 6 Gran Coupe. 5 series with a different shell? I think not.

But the shell makes a huge difference though. It's lower, longer and wider than the 3 series. To me, the 3 series is a great car but it is still too small for my taste. The old E39 5 series were the right size, but my new F10 is too big and heavy compared to the E39. The fact that is lower and sportier only makes it more attractive to me as I ideally would like to have a coupe but the realities of life do not allow me to do so.

I am frankly surprised that so many people complain about a new car being out to meet other people preferences and needs while BMW still sells a car (4 door 3 Series) that satisfies the needs of those that are complaining.

Exactly. The 4GC will be a very desirable car, just look at the reaction of the regular 4 Series Concept. Why does it matter if it costs $20K more than a base 328i?

So, it's a 3 Li ( already exists in China only) with a fast back and two boomerangs attached to the sides.
Brilliant! Just in time for returning my F30 and to give it a go.
