I can't speak from experience since I've spent the last 10 Minneapolis winters in an AWD BMW with all seasons on it. But, I had to make the same decision for this first winter with my RWD F30 Sportline. I decided to go with the Blizzak WS70 tires to make sure I can get where I need to all winter long.

Blizzak LM60 would be my choice.... but since you have so much city driving you might as well go with the WS70. You wont get much benefit of a performance snow tire when you in stop/go traffic.

LM60 shines when your on the highway or curvy county road.

Ottawa gets lot of snow & icy roads ... WS70 or Xice 3 would be a better choice, just for traction reason.

I love the LM60's on my E90 335d - very good in deep snow, pretty good on compact snow/ice. I prefer the performance snows as the last longer than non-performance and handle quite a bit better on dry roads, with better stopping performance particularly.

I have run non-performance snows (Michelin xIce) on an earlier 330xi I owned, and it just wasn't the same.

I drove my E90 with Bridgestone Blizzak LM25 runflats. I ordered the new LM32 runflats in the 17 inch size for my F30. I didn't have any type of problem with heavy snow or a dry day on the Interstate. They handled as good as my regular tires did.

+1
Go with the more aggressive winter tire. I just drove 1000km on wet/dry highways with the Xi3 on my F31 and they were great. Can't wait for snow...sort of.

I love the LM60's on my RWD 335i. No issues so far...
