awe tuning exhaust people, how's the exhaust in comfort mode?

I really only drive in comfort mode, (usually shift the lever to the left into S mode for the higher revs) because i hate the sensitive throttle response of the actual sport mode.

was looking to get the awe tuning axle back exhaust (because of warranty concerns with getting the catback) and was wondering if anyone had this setup and how it was in comfort mode? is it a lot louder than stock still?

thanks

I have midpipe so not sure on just axle back, but generally it's going to be louder the more you get on it.

Aside from a super loud cold start (that I think is much louder with the midpipe), it could be easily mistaken for stock at idle or when cruising at low (under 2000) RPM.

Once you open it up, regardless of if in comfort/sport/etc, it gets loud, and 3K - 7K sounds like a proper sports car. With the midpipe I think it has a bit more of a growl at lower RPMs, but this isn't something the average person would notice.

It's going to sound generally the same at the same RPM regardless of mode, but in comfort it will take more effort/pedal travel to get you to the same RPM you would get to in sport.

Do you notice any drone/buzzing in your system? I'm trying to decide on a system and want something that is loud enough to hear with the windows up but not so loud that its obnoxious when cruising. Right now I'm considering this or the Borla ATAK.

You'll hear it with the windows up when you're getting on it, but at cruising speeds it's very, very quiet in the cabin.

It really depends on your sensitivity to what is loud or not. That being said, stay conservative at first. With the AWE you can get the axle back portion and if you want to try for more sound you can always add the mid pipe later.

What warranty concerns? Any axle back is going to require cutting the stick muffler off

FYI BMW won't void any aspect of the warranty for a bolt on like exhaust. Once other mods are done it may affect the warranty

I just asked the dealer about this. Exhaust won't void the warranty. Specifically, even if you do get heavy into mods it may only void the part of the warranty directly related to your "tampering"

Have you searched on YouTube for potential clips?

My guess axleback will sound good with catless down pipe and "Catback" would be very aggressive. I definitely think I would want to hear it first too

I've been damn happy with my AWE Mid+Exhaust. That being said, I'll echo what people have said about it being loud at cold start, but in comfort you wouldn't even really get any burble out of it. The AWE exhaust has a bracket for the flap motor to attach to so there's no codes, but it doesn't actually flap anything open or closed as there's no flaps on the muffler. FWIW.

Just loudness. The stock midpipe only has a resonator and those don't introduce any back pressure. You are better off going to a shop and having them remove your midpipe resonator if loudness and drone is what you are looking for.

I have both the midpipe and the axle back, it's loud on cold starts and wide open throttle. Sounds stock while cruising. I'm doing a Fabspeed Sport cat with it, because sometimes I think it is a little too quiet for my liking. Great system though; very well made.
