Tweeter location for HK system???
I was attempting to count all 16 speakers in my newly arrived 335 msport and realized that there is not a tweeter located in the drivers side door pillar by the side view mirror. Do you have or not have a tweeter located there??

Really? Are you absolutely sure? There should be one in each door pillar, along with mids in each door, a speaker in the center of the dash, two on the rear deck, and a sub under each front seat.

Seriously, the speaker arrangement should be symmetrical, if its not.. Then im afraid some german made a terrible mistake and there is a car out there with your car's original door. |

That is ridiculous. I'm surprised you didn't notice the sound. I would take that back to the dealership ASAP.

So here's the resolution to the lost tweeter.... My dealership graciously retro-fitted the speaker. This required a new speaker harness and wires from the mid-range in the door. Sound is much better with clarity and balance. 1 week to fix. Wrong door was the issue. Also fixed squealing brakes with new rotors which was a plus with only 500 miles on car. In the end, I fell back in love with my 335 msport. :-)

Did the A pillar not even have the proper cover for where the tweeter should be? If they retrofitted tweeters, then there has to be a place for it on the A pillar as well as covers. WOW, this is a big glaring F-up. How did you car even pass inspection at the factory, and then your dealer prep people didn't even bother to notice. You should ask your dealer if he expects all 10's on the survey. |

In the factory the bare shell is painted with the doors on, & after that the doors come off the car. This is to facilitate the assembly of the car cos workers can move in & out without hinderance (& potential damage). The doors are worked on in a separate line & it's only fitted back on the car after the interior is totally done. Wht happened is they mixed up with a car with same colour but different spec (i.e. no HK) so the wrong door is fitted.
I guess this may be caused by a door being out of sequence due to some problems (i.e. need for rework due to problems during door assembly or simple mistake such as swapped labelling). Surprising that nobody from factory final qc to pdi managed to pick that up. |

Upon the recommendation of the CA, I called BMW to request an investigation and an official response in the event that its a lemon law issue to replace entire vehicle. BMW headquarters not interested in the QC of my car. Come to find out, the drivers side door had no functional speakers. Shame on BMW for poor quality control!!! It's one thing if a product doesn't work versus not even installing the product. My 4th ordered BMW and worse quality. Love the potential in the vehicle but time will tell...

They then had to order a replacement three times before they got it right - first one was for the wrong side, and second one was damaged. They did do an awful lot of grovelling though |
