Insurance renewal has come through and its +50% with privilege. No claims or endorsements. (I was paying c.£2k last year as it was..)

Chris Knott and Adrian Flux's underwriters are struggling with East London postcode + modifications.

Aviva online are reasonable and let me add the following mods online.

Question is do these adequately describe MPPSK?

I would think "standard engine replacement" means you have had the engine replaced with another of standard specification. So no, not accurate for MPPSK

The dropdown list was things like new alloys, bodykit, tints, new ARB's etc.

They were all geared to performance or visual changes. Would replacing a 'standard engine' with a 'standard engine' be in their mod dropdown? Can only really think someone would do that for warranty work?

Don't get me wrong, I know the real answer is to call them. But equally if it fits the description without misleading I am minded to press buy!

Agreed that looks like you have swapped out the engine to me. If the quote isn't that expensive may as well actually do it and drop an m5 lump in....

I phoned Aviva up as they didn't really have the right boxes to tick for the MPPSK and sorted it in 10 min.

If the mods are just mp ones I'd avoid flux and the like and find a good mainstream insurer.

Thanks all - I will call them up and bite the bullet.

Am wary really because Sainsbury's tripled their quote after I added the remap!

What did you call it when you spoke? A remap, or upgrade, or something else?

I'm also in based in East London (E14), I went with Quotemehappy. £420 fully comp. It's for a 320d but I also got a quote for S4 Avant. Only £100 more.

A factory optional extra, which it is and what it involved

Nice, I'll try them.

Privilege were the best of the bunch at the time, but silly renewal this year. Still not finding much below £1.9k, before MPPSK :

I do park on the street and have only just earned 1 year ncd. Also had a minor 'at fault' incident two years back. But it's mostly postcode - my parents address in Sussex would be £600.

Wow! I've never paid more than 650 for insurance! And that includes when I first started driving!

What I do like about Quotemehappy is they allow full comp insurance as standard when travelling in Europe. Flipping esure, dinged me 25 a pop every quarter and they auto renew, if you have paid by card or DD. You have to call them to not renew.

Yes because it's a genuine BMW part and it comes from one of their factories or sub-contractors making it for them.

So if you are 35 now why is your insurance so much??? (If you don't mind saying!)

Few things;

- street parking
- minor prang 2 years back (so only 1 yr ncd, plus have to declare the prang)
- group 36 car

But mostly it's the postcode.
E13 vs BN6 (in Sussex) gives a £1300 difference.

That's because when we started driving, family saloon cars with the equivalent acceleration of a Lamborghini Countach or Ferrari F40 weren't commonplace or available for under £40k.

For anyone interested, Aviva have kept the mods I select in my opening post, but made a note on file of the modification name and what it is. Otherwise no further issues and I've signed up with them.

That means I can publicly call out my soon to-be-gone provider Privilege for being complete mongrels for trying to extract c.£3k from me (a 50% increase) when I have made no claims or changes in the past year
