F30 owners with lighting package-

Does this pertain to ambient lighting on your door panels? or with the headlights?

Exterior lights. Adds Xenon or LED, depending on MY or 3/4 series; plus swiveling headlights; plus cornering lights; plus coronas on 328.

Ambient lighting in footwell, door cards, center trim surround, and overhead console is standard on all F30 US models. Pre-LCI I believe only the trim line models (sport, m-sport, luxury) could change colors between 'classic' and 'sport'. But, recently driving a base LCI loaner, it seems the light color options may have become standard across all F30s as well.

It depends. It can refer to either. If you're looking at a VIN decoder it refers to ambient lighting. All U.S. models have it. Xenon or LED lights would be listed as such. If you're looking at a window sticker it would refer to either xenon or LED headlights.

I noticed that the LCI has wayyyy brighter door trim lights than my '14. Even with brightness turned all the way up its barely noticeable. The LCI was super bright on the halfway settings.

You could hold onto the E90 and then buy an LCI 340i in a year or two. That B58 motor is very nice.

Yeah thats what I was thinking too pal- all the craziness i went through to find my e90 to just sell in a year-

Honetly, i think i found the nicest e90 in the country last year- 9K miles, like new- its perfect.

The F30 i test drove yestruday was fun, and beautiful to me too- I realy liked how the ride felt.

I had a 340 loaner xdrive - it was so damn fast!!! Really made my e90 feel slow getting back into it

The LED module for the door card lighting was changed for the 2015 model year. The new LED module is brighter than the old one. I retrofitted the new module onto my '14 and it is quite a bit brighter.

There's a thread somewhere on the forum that describes the part numbers needed. It's a pretty simple plug and play swap, you just have to remove the door panels.

Here's the post. It's a really long thread but you'll find mention of the different led module parts starts on page 3, post #62.
