ED dilemma

Is there a way to do this tour with less driving. I want to see thee factory, drive on the autobahn, drive some world class roads, but mainly I want to see Germany, Italy, Monaco, France, Switzterland, then come home. I am well aware I might have to eliminate some of what I want.

Is there a train route, would it be better to fly to a place like Paris. I like to see a city and leave. I do not want to go on a 21 day adventure, 9 days max. ( I miss my little kids ).

Anyway, I want to drive, I want to experience BMW, but mostly I want to see places in short order as efficiently as possible.

Thanks

You can see those countries in 9 days. I did the following route in a week:

Munich -> Interlaken -> Turin -> Cinque Terre -> Nice -> Monaco

Put approximately 800 miles on the car.

You could spec out a trip where you see part of it driving - not the big city part and then turn the car in and do some touring by train longer distances. That way the car would at least be starting its voyage home while you are still there and reduce the painful wait.

You can fly to Paris, spend 3 days there. Than take a night train to Munich.
Proposed route:
Munich - Zurich - Lucerne-Lake Como - Milan - Monte Carlo - Nice
Drop your car in Nice and fly to Paris or take a bullet trine to Paris and fly home.

Great responses, I like the train idea. Has anyone done just that? What other areas could I take the train system in a reasonable manner?

Thanks!

I use this site for all my European travel
I also purchase book by Rick Steves for every country/City we stay more then 1 day.
To Buy Your European Rail Pass - click here

The first number between cities = approximate cost in $US for a 1-way, 2nd class ticket. For first class rail fares, add 50%.
The second number = number of hours the trip takes.
Important: These fares and times are based on European railway web sites. Actual prices may vary due to currency fluctuations, seasonality, and local promotions. Fares and times are for express trains where applicable. For shorter routes, see the maps on each country page in Choosing Your Railpass.

Sorry, couldn't resist!

Don't you still have to put 1000 miles on the car before it can be exported to the US via ED? Or has this changed?

For an ED, the distance and length does not matter...

(Sorry, couldn't resist!)

you can put 1 miles on the car, it's still ok!

to OP, there are millions of combination possible... you can do whatever you want...
it's up to you... take a chance and design your own trip...

do you really want us to spoon feed you ?
What's to fear ?

in nine days, you can very well be visiting 9 different places,
or just 3 places, it's entirely up to you, whether you want to drive/walk/ride the train/bike/sail on the Rhin/or fly!

Why dont you give it a try in designing your own trip?
What do you like to do? what would you like to see?
Can you dream something up ?
why would you want to live my dream?
why would you want to do what i tell you to do?
I could tell you what to do, but i would be too jealous of you living my own dreams!

You can check out my thread (refer to my signature) and get yourself inspire !

Nothing to fear I have been all over the world having lived in several other countries. I am just. trying to get a good barometer from others how to maximize my time.

The input has been great FWIW, thanks guys.

If you're looking for a reputable ED dealer in Oregon, check out James Mannheimer at BMW Salem. He's the best in the PNW.

I think I need to add time to this. I want to take it in. The BMW part is icing on the cake, the ED part is what gets me excited.

Why so short of a trip? The BMW Welt and Museum are incredible places. Seems a shame to waste 20+ hours on a plane to miss out on some of the most incredible sights and sounds in the world.

Haha indeed. I was just kidding, most people would not want to do this. I'm flying to see my family in Paris and the ED is just an extra rebate for me. Been to Germany dozens of time, the first time I was 11 and already learning the language and that was in Munich. Loved it. Then I came to "America" and the "pretzels" here are AWFUL.

I have seen people on flyertalk take delivery and literally not drive the car at all, then hop on a plane to Asia. BMW ED prices are really good, on a lease you can get a fully loaded f30 for less of a payment than a Honda Accord.

I am going in a week, will recap when I get back. I am getting Audi, but I am hitting the Welt and BMW on demand.

I fly into Munich, out of London, I have 2 weeks. At this point I have 3 options after Munich. I could drive to Nice in 2-3 days, or take the train to Amsterdam, or hit the rent a race car East of Frankfurt. I am watching the weather, but I do not like fully planned iteneraries. I have my hotel in Munich and London, still need to firm up Paris (lots) of options. Hope to do all this soon. I have not been to Paris, so I want a few full days. Possible scenario is really take in Munich BMW/Audi possibly more....then make it a Paris/London trip and scrapping the above scenarios. Crazy last minute just the way I like it.
