I'm thinking 1000-1500 over invoice, am I being unrealistic?

Yes, you are being realistic. You will have no trouble buying a new F30 for $1000 to $1500 over invoice. Generally, $500 over invoice is also a fair offer, and a pretty good deal for the buyer, so it will take some effort to get that price or better.

If you are willing to go to $1,500 over invoice, there's no need to not try to get it for less. Generally, if you are a good and tough negotiator, you can get a new car for less than $1500 over invoice. The dealer knows he's not likely to be making any appreciable sum of money on the sale of a new car, but that doesn't mean he won't try.

I'm talking about F32 though, I know getting a F30 for 500 or even lower is easy.

Probably around $800 is a fair price, plus i could throw in a $50 Starbucks gift card~

It's still a new car. It won't be any different. The dynamics of car dealers' operations don't change with the car model.

I think I know what you are getting at, though. If the demand for an F32 is just so high that it exceeds availability, then you will have to pay more. (That happened with the 1M.)

I would just say, give it 6 months before you try buying one. In the first months of a new model's existence, the dealers haven't even gotten their allocation flow up to speed, so they want to keep at least one around to show folks. If you insist on buying that one, yes, you'll have to pay a premium for it and the sums you initially suggested seem reasonable, but it's still very hard to be sure right now for all the things that will determine the verity of how reasonable are your suggested sum aren't known.

I think what you suggested would be the best route to go I guess.. Right now all the dealers I spoke to were either MSRP or 1k off MSRP but that just seems ridiculous to me.

I'll wait til they hit the lot and then see what kind of deal I can get.. Only problem is I want a custom build and will have to wait another 2 months after a deal is worked out.

If by custom build, you mean you intend to order your car, you are in a somewhat better position. Place your order and make sure the dealer signs it just as you do. Once you have a signed buyer's order, take it to the other BMW dealers in your area and have them beat the price. Repeat the process as needed, cancelling your prior order retrieving your deposit, and eventually you'll get the lowest price you are going to at point in time.

When you go to dealers 2 through whatever, you don't need to tell them about your other order until it's necessary. You should still bargain hard to get them to an initial low price, and pull out the signed buyer's order only if you need to.

I didn't notice where you live, but here in the DC metro area, there are at least five dealers in the metro area alone, and that's not counting Annapolis, Baltimore, or further out Northern Virginia, all of which are more than close enough to use for this purpose.
