I donīt think it will be offered as RWD, since the 335d is also AWD only.

I wonder about the price, probably in the F30 M3 range.

335xd vs. D3

I was about to order the new 335xd Touring, but will wait for the D3 Touring.

Just yesterday I spoke to the dealer and he presumes that the D3s will be delivered in April/May 2014. Iīm in love and definitely will wait for the D3.

The only question remains - white or blue?

They must have seriously reworked it to get a petrol engine to run on diesel I think you'll find they most likely use the N57 which in the 335d already has 2 turbo's.

I know the Alpina has other changes to make it unique, I was merely mentioning that it's not much faster / more powerful than the F30 335d. It'll be a hell of a lot more expensive and more so once you see what the finance deals are if you go that route. BMW in the UK are doing 3.9% APR and around 7 - 8k discount on a 335d but an Alpina will be more like 7 - 12% APR with no discount.
LMAO at the rework/diesel comment.

actually a bit disappointed...the last D3 was sort of a bargain, a poor man's tuner car which made sense against a 320d. this is a richer man's workhorse.

A fully loaded F31 335xd is about 73k EUR, a fully loaded D3 Touring is about 84k EUR. So it is more expensive, but I wouldnīt say itīs "hell of a lot".

Doubt that. I donīt think BMW or Alpina have a manual transmission that could survive the torque.

Good choice if you're in the market for a 335xd!
Alpina has quad outlets whereas the 335 only gets twin pipes on single side.
Alpina has classier looks so perfect business car.
A little more €/$ but well worth it IMO

Go with blue, or even with Alpina green II. Also very classy and rare.

This is in fact the M350d BMW should have made, they're going to lose a lot of sales on this one.

It's not always about 0-60...Torque is really what makes a car fun imo. It is what throws your body back in your seat, and trust me, 516 lb-ft of torque will definitely do that while putting a stupid grin on your face On an unrelated note, the 335i doesn't get 44mpg, which is a nice benefit to have.

ok but how is it throwing you any faster than 335i if 0-60 is same if not slower, i dont get it unless there is a huge difference in like 40-80 or 60-80 , i never drove a 335d so i guess i dont understand

The green is not my favorite. Iīll probably go for the blue, since "standard" F31 blue (estoril blue) is too bright for me (I got E91 330xd in LeMans Blue and BMW doesnīt offer this shade of blue for the F3x series, except for San Marino Blue, which is an M car color and is veeery expensive to order for F31 through BMW Individual Program).

But maybe BMW will offer a Performance Power Kit for 335d as well and will get similar figures.

Actually...

"Alpina is offering the D3 Bi-Turbo in both saloon and estate (Touring) bodystyles, and standard rear-wheel drive for right-hand drive models. Left-hand drive markets get the option of all-wheel drive. A limited-slip differential is on the options list."

Yeah but your missing the point I said about discounts. A 335d xDrive in M Sport is around Ģ41k with Ģ5k discount without even haggling because its on BMW's website when you go to configure the car. However if you haggle with the dealer you can probably get that to Ģ8k odd, most people seem to be doing so. The APR is also a lot lower than an Alpina if your going to finance the car rather than buy it with cash.

So yeah if your paying cash and BMW removes their discounts then the Alpina isn't that much more. But with the discounts currently it is a lot more expensive. That's all I was trying to say.
