Modding a ZHP

Should I? Will the collector value drop?

I was looking into JB4 and I don't think I will see many gains.

How about a down pipe?

I will be doing the IND reflectors and maybe carbon mirror caps

+1. These are depreciating assets; drive and enjoy it and then rinse and repeat.

Nothing collectible about the ZHP, anyone can buy the parts and fit it themselves.

I didn't want to say it, but I'd agree. It'll have a little more value then a regular 4 series expect a couple grand on top of what it would normally be worth but it's still probably going to depreciate normally.

Just keep your stock parts all this stuff is reversible.

BMW really bastardized the ZHP name with this F32 one. The E46 330i ZHP had a shorter final drive, unique wheels, 10 extra HP, available cloth/alcantara upholstery, unique short shifter, unique exhaust, unique shift knob (that's now the standard M-sport shift knob, but it was unique at the time), BMW Performance lower control arms, and some other minor differences. The E46 ZHP isn't a collector's item per-se, but it is much more desirable in the used market than a 'regular' 330i.

The F32 ZHP is just all the M-Performance stuff you can add to any F3x as port or dealer-installed options. Because there is nothing bespoke about it, if anything the F32 ZHP will actually depreciate faster than a regular F32 (since the MSRP was so high on the F32 ZHP, but the individual M-performance parts can be had at substantial discounts).

When I bought my 335is I thought it might hold value better given the uniqueness of those cars compared to regular 335i, but that was and is not the case. I see them now selling for the same. Some cars as we all know are meant for us the enthusiasts, and therefore will not see any real value hold, given the majority of buyers dont see why a short throw shifter is a big deal.

Yeah, if they did something like ZHP rims only or certain parts like suspension where it's only ZHP unique (can't get them anywhere else) or different things (For example, M4 GTS with water injection) then it would be a rare collectible and then it won't depreciate, take the C63 black edition for example, that car actually does not depreciate, but rather it holds it's value.

Well the 1M was aimed squarely at enthusiasts and never depreciated. The 335is is an awesome car, but BMWs tend to need that ///Magic letter to become collectors' items (with some exceptions; Z8, E30 320is, etc).

A used 335is (or 135is) is one of the great performance bargains you can snag right now; it's like a poor man's 1M.

Exactly thats most of our points. The 1M had bespoke parts that weren't just dealer installable accessories.

No, the F32 ZHP has no collector value. It's a regular 435 equipped with:

THP
M LSD
M PPK
M Sport Pkg.
M Performance parts

Beautifully equipped, IMO, but it sort of makes me cringe when I hear BMW say "limited edition" or "only 100 built" as if it is going to be some kind of unique and rare collector's car.

Go wild with it!
