As I was unable to travel to collect it I sent my son down and he very much enjoyed the drive back to Keswick.

No, he's not 17. A petrolhead systems engineer geek but still sensible and 33 y/o, also rides my bikes. Brings them back when he wears out the rear tyre and takes another away.

When borrowing the 330dx, he has his own strict rules for both him and his wife. No food to be eaten in the car and only water, nothing sticky to be drunk, or spilled.

Cheers

Fair enough. By the time my son is 33, I might let him drive my car if he behaves!

I was prepared to travel down to Watford, but Riaz & i agreed it wasn't really in my best interests as he could only beat my dealer by 1k.

Flew to Southampton from Belfast for collection of my old F32 in January - saved at least £2k vs. prices in NI.

Had intended driving to Holyhead to get the ferry to Dublin (circa 4.5hrs)

Free cancelled due to weather.

Tried Liverpool - also cancelled.

En route, I booked a ferry in Cairnryan (8hr drive from Southampton). JUST about made the ferry in time (after an 8-hour literally non-stop journey.)

Ferry cancelled!

Didn't sail until a full 24 hours later. I slept in the car as I couldn't leave the port or I'd lose my place on the next sailing.
Needless to say the honeymoon period was over verrrry quickly in that car!

Would I do it again? - Yes! I did!
Bought my F12 in July and drove it home from Luton - slightly better weather for sailing in July compared to January!

For a car, if I had a mate to drive me there anywhere in the UK.

I once got on 3 trains, on a Sunday with £5k stashed in a backpack to get from London to North Wales to buy an import only red GSXR.

A unique colour would have me travelling longer distances than right spec

Flew from Birmingham to Belfast to buy an M5. Ferry to Stranrear and the M6 home. Long day that was. Not as long as the drive from Warwick to Aberdeen to buy an M3 CS. Car wasnt as described, so drove all the way home! Then, a couple of years later, my wife wanted an A4. Guess what, the one she liked was in Aberdeen! I flew up this time and drove it home. Not to mention trips all over the UK with friends to look at cars

Collected mine from Park Lane, London, having got the train there. Then drove it back to West Midlands. Just a mere 125 miles.
