Actually it works but with a manual step.
Once your phone is associated with the car, go into email notification and change the number of item to be display. as long as you make a change after the phone is associated with the car, it will work. the draw back is you need to do this for all items beside SMS. It was like that since Beta 3. it now part of my routing as i get in the car, so it is almost second nature! |

GOOD NEWS!
I can confirm that iOS6 can receive text messages to iDrive via Bluetooth, no cradle or USB cord necessary. You get an envelope icon on the display, you navigate to Office > Messages and your texts are there. No luck with emails (guessing the same reported bug in the iOS6 beta). This was using an iPhone 4 and an F30 with the most recent firmware. BJ |

A few tricks that helped me after struggling for an hour:
1. Turn on "messages" under Telephone > Bluetooth settings in iDrive. 2. In the iPhone go to Settings > Messages and make sure notifications are on, change the number of notifications from what it's at now, choose 'alert' style, choose 'show on screen'. 3. In the iPhone go to Settings > Bluetooth and click on the BMW link and make sure "show on screen" is selected. 4. The thing that finally did it for me was to connect via the white Apple USB cable and the Connected app. Sent and received a text message hard-wired. That allowed the iPhone and iDrive to "see" each other that first time. Since then, no issues wirelessly. Note: The iPhone must go to sleep during your testing. You can't hit the off button and force it. Have to let it sit (set to 1 minute in Settings) until it goes full-black, then send a test text from another phone. Note: Mail is not working so far (anyone?), only text messages. BJ |

It has been broadly reported from several sources and platforms that only SMS messages are currently working in the GM of iO6 via Bluetooth MAP. Unfortunately, Email hasn't worked since Beta 3. Hopefully there will be an update from Apple or a BT update from BMW that restores/corrects the functionality.
In the meantime...hurry up and wait

Lost everything with iOS 6 GM. Had beta 4 working with everything except email.
Also, I seem to have lost some HUD contact functionality. With beta 4, I had access to all my previous calls (even those made outside the car) now, I only have 'recent calls' that were made in the car. Definitely need to investigate more... |

Ok. So I installed iOS 6 and was able to get a txt message to show but no luck with emails. I have a 2013 328i with tech and office.
I checked and followed the instructions on the threads. Anyone have advice? I have messages and emails showing on notifications and lock screen. I have the car set to all messages. As an FYI I keep my iPhone 4S in the cradle. |

This is quite confusing because there seem to be specific options you need as well as a certain configuration of options in order for things to work.
For example, I have iOS 6 on an iPhone 4S. I have the (UK) Professional Multimedia Package which includes option 6NL (Bluetooth telephone preparation with telematics, USB audio interface and Voice Control). I also have the latest software according to iDrive. However, while I can get messages in the car that are sent from the BMW Remote app, I cannot get SMS messages (even though there appears to be a heading for them on my messages list). Also when I go into my Bluetooth devices in iDrive and select the current device (my iPhone) I don't get any sub-menues up, e.g. Bluetooth audio, Office, Show Pictures, Additional telephone. What's more the dealer doesn't know and the info on the BMW Bluetooth website is out of date (only goes up to iOS 5.1). Very frustrating

Sounds to me like you don't have BMW Apps. Your dealer should dhave told you what you needed to acheive your goals.
Mine couldn't either so I looked on this forum before I ordered

Arrrggghhh... dealer didn't know and I thought I'd read somewhere that you didn't need the BMW Apps option. It's about five times the price to retrofit it if that's true (£600)

BMW APPS has nothing to do with this solution. You need to have enhanced bluetooth. You may need an other option/feature in your market as well but BMW Apps is not the one.

I got it working too. Don't forget: under telephone, choose your iphone and press the option button to access the bluetooth settings. You also have to enable messages on the iphone bluetooth bmw connection.
Very bad implementation! 1) Also: do you guys get an audible alert when receiving an sms? 2) Is it possible to see pictures or videos without the cradle? 3) There was a bluetooth setting like "additional phone" (I have the german version). What is this? 4) When I connect the iphone with the cable, it turns off the bluetooth music connection and I have to manually connect my phone over bluetooth again if I don't use the cable. Is there a solution to this? |
