Window Shades
Has anyone found any window shades for the back seat (e.g. left rear door and right rear door)? Driving in the winter sun is annoying the kiddos a lot!
We previously tried the Uppababy shades with suction cups but they just did not work mostly because of the way the window goes down ever so slightly when the door opens. Also, the suction cups kept falling off. |

They were previously offered in Europe, but nobody here can get them. I've already tried all the normal sources for Euro parts. Now they just seem to offer the rear one, not the side anymore. http://www.etk.cc/bmw/EN/search/sele...SA/51/51_8619/

can't beleive it's not integrated in the doors like in the F10 or F31....the main thing about this car is the backseat!
I installed those with suction cups i must be lucky they're holding! if someone finds oem stuff please let us know! |

It's the frameless design of the doors...nothing to clip the shade onto in its open position. I have the factory shadesin my F30 and love them. My wife's GT is lacking obviously and we haven't found a good solution as of yet.

We did a 35% ceramic tint. Our 4 year old has no complaints. The ceramic really eliminates the heat and the 35% is not too dark but kills the bright sun just enough.
Otherwise its kiddie sunglasses!!

You need to be careful with the tint percentage. The tint of the original windows combine with that of film to give a total. My windows have a factory tint that appears to be 70%. My state regulations limit me to 35%, so to be safe I'll use a 50% film.

Don't even worry about it. My legal tint is 70%, but I still put 20% on the back windows and 35% on the fronts. If they stop me, I'll claim its an MPV, which is allowed darker tint. |

At the end of the day go with what feels comfortable to you within the limits.

update
How's it been for the last 6+ months w/o factory shades?
I don't see how they could get a powered rear window shade in the F34 as they have it on the F30.

I have 50% ceramic tint all around except windshield is 80. Keeps the heat out and not too dark so no tickets. Tint shop said never had to remove a similar tint.
If you haven't checked out a ceramic tint demo, find a shop that has it. They put a super strong flood light on the other side of glass and with ceramic, barely feel it, on a reg tint it is very warm. |
