Phone holder for a 428I X?
I have tried many phone holders for my new 428I X coupe but I can not find one that has a suction cup small enough to fit any of he flat surfaces of the center console. Even to use a long arm holder attached to the windshield would be unsightly and have too much motion sway. Anyone found a good way to do this? I know there are vent mounts out there, however I don't like the idea of blocking the airflow and it would not be within a comfortable reach position.
Also is there any info out there as too whether or not using a wireless charger in the car will cause any interference problems with the electronics of the car? |

I use a cupholder GPS mount that works with tablets as well as smartphones and is fully adjustable. I found it on Amazon. The lower portion expands to fit snugly in the cupholder, and the upper part has two removable mounts for either a tablet or a smartphone. Works great, and is close to the electric outlet at the front of the console.

I use this mount:
http://www.kudausa.com/kuda-custom-l...2012-k653.html with this phone holder : http://www.kudausa.com/iphone-5--5s-...ing-a1819.html These are standard in Europe from what I understand on BMW's - I know the owner here in the states - if anybody is interested - he usually gives 15% off - These look like they were built into the car when you install them. |

Sure, let me finish my next conf. call and I'll run down and take a few pics. Been using these guys for years and I'm really impressed with the look and quality. It can be a bit tricky to install, but once installed, it's nice.
and with the setup I posted, you can either run the USB cable to the AUX adapter under the glove box on your F30, or you can run it through the center console to the USB input under the armrest. If your in a older car with neither, I'd suggest taking the lighter port from the ash tray (like my old E90) and just splicing in a new 12 vt lighter adapter and hiding the wires. It looks like it came with the car... |

Sorry the pictures are somewhat crappy. Waiting for a new iPhone with a better camera :-)
But you can see the mount is leather wrapped to match the interior. The phone cradle is mounted with screws so the heat won't screw up the double sided sticky pad (but you can use either). The wire is run under the console to the aux under the glove box. The phone is nice and high so I can see when I'm driving or whatever you want to do with it while your driving. You pull the phone forward and lift to dismount. The lighting connector slips out and tilts forward. Put it in by slipping the connector in first, then pushing forward and the claws hold the phone snug. Works with a case or no case. Mine has one of those hard shell cases that protect the corners and back. |

I just saw the other day someone posting pics of their new F30 and they had a pretty clever (IMO) solution. A CD-slot-mounted holder, which is low-profile, fairly cheap and with the layout of the center console I think works out pretty well. Unless you use your shortcut keys alot. It keeps the phone below the vents but above the climate controls.
The above is very nice, but ugly with no phone in it and I wouldn't want it so permanent (CD slot mount pulls right out). I also notice that my passengers like to relax their leg against the console right at that spot. Here's the pic I saw: |

This is probably one of the better mounts I have seen. I like it! I wish we had Car Play and Android Auto already. I just want to keep my phone in the center console or in my pocket and have iDrive control the phone (more integration than what we have currently).

That mount is the balls. Looks great. Pricey but I like that you can still run a case on your phone with it. With iDrive the only real reason I'd want to be able to look at my phone is for something like Waze - and because when I plug it into the car and put it in the center console I forget it there 76% of the time LOL.
The CD slot mount seems like a great idea at first, but I would worry about it in the long term causing damage to the CD player which was never engineered to hold that kind of weight, especially weight on the end of a moment arm.
